My internal HD on my Mac is almost full and I'd love to offload my entire Acustica Audio libraries (N4 and Acquas) onto an external HD but I cannot find any info anywhere to guide me - I recently bought N4 and I'm quite impressed with the sounds; any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much...

Are there any Mac Acustica Audio experts out there that can help me out? I'm at my wits end trying to get it to work and there is no information online that I can find to instruct me on how to accomplish this...

Apart from what I quoted, there is. All over Google.
Here is the top hit, and the app I use.

    Again, you're welcome.

    1. Install symboliclinker
    2. Copy Ur N4 and Acquas presets & Lib folder to new destination
    3. Delete Original Path (remember where it is for step 5)
    4. Create A symboliclink (looks like the old mac alias) ( it makes a folder where you placed ur new folder path or sometimes to the desktop)
    5. Drag the sym link folder you just created to the original path & delete the symlink part so its the same name as the original folder
    6. Delete the unused symlink folder
    7. Fire up ur DAW & Nebula that should work (it did 4 me)

I Hope I've got that right it's been a long day
    GOOD LUCK :like:

Thank you deevaz - I appreciate your reply but I need to know exactly which folders I should copy to the new destination and/or leave in the original location (should it be the entire Nebula4 folder or only specific sub-folders within?)... also, if you could explain every step as if I am an idiot because I'm not clear on each direction and I'm desperate to make this work, thank you very much for your patience.

If I Remember Correctly Its the entire Neb4 Folder which me thinks is in the presets folder
    /Library/Audio/Presets/AcusticaAudio/Nebula4
U have to delete the original folder once you've copied it to another location

Thank you again - can you walk me through steps 3 through 7 exactly? Whenever you're able, I am grateful for your help...

    Best Answer
    3.
    Delete Original Path
So once you have moved the Nebula4 folder delete it you no longer need this folder

    4.
Create A symboliclink (right click folder scroll down to services there you should see make symbolic link)
it will make a new folder (somethink like Nebula4 symlink)

    5.
So now drag the Nebula4 symlink folder back to /Library/Audio/Presets/AcusticaAudio/
at that destination delete the symlink from Nebula4 symlink folder so it's just called Nebula4

    6.
    Delete the unused symlink folder
Where the original Nebula4 symlink folder you created delete it DONE & DUSTED me thinks

    hope this helps

deevaz - you win the gold star! I cannot express how happy and relieved I am to have this issue finally cleared up for me - this is the answer I've been looking for, so elegant and simple (not even Acustica was able to explain how to solve my problem)... please let me know if there is anything I can do for you - I'd love to return the favor somehow.

For N4 you don't really need symbolic links. Just install the libs anywhere and add this line to every N4.xml in your plugin folders:

    <ALTERNATIVEDATAPATH> /new/path/to/your/libs/</ALTERNATIVEDATAPATH>

You can even set multiple paths:
    <ALTERNATIVEDATAPATH> /new/path/to/your/libs/</ALTERNATIVEDATAPATH>
    <ALTERNATIVEDATAPATH> /second/path/to/other/libs/</ALTERNATIVEDATAPATH>

There's also some way to set these paths from N4s GUI, also, but I don't remember which menu it was exactly.

ok so I purchased the symbolic linker from the app store and its great, I can drag all huge 35Gb folders to a external SSD, not the components just the folders, example from Library/audio/components folder (example folders like acustica audio black, magenta, mint etc) and after they are copied I drag them all unto this app, save them to the desk top, trash the older ones in the Library/audio/components folder and then put the symbolic links I saved on the desk top in their place, I loaded logic and voila, all worked great...

I just cant get the "magic flow" to show up in the logic plugin manager, yet I can open the component with other apps like patchwork etc, then i did everything to maize but failed to get this to work, maybe after a reboot it will.
