Does Sonarworks calibration mic work with the cracked software? Could anyone please confirm this? I'm about to purchase their mic.

Some people use the normal mic they have at home already for calibrating , may be not as accurate as the messurement mic .

I tried with a large diaphragm condenser set to omni but it didn't work very good. I bought a Sonarworks mic 2 months or so ago and the results are night and day!

If you want to save a few bucks you can also buy the Behringer 800 something measurement microphone for half the price instead. I'm pretty sure that the Xref mics are just rebranded Behringer mics and Sonarworks doesn't give you the handy hardshell case for the mic. The Xrefs come with their own calibration profiles but someone here said that you can find some general calibration profile for the Behringer mics aswell.

i think you're right - they are the same mic. but the best price i could find was not half price. you can easily save $25 though.

the only real differences between the two are that the behringer comes with a case, and the sonarworks apparently comes with a copy of the actual sound profile that was measured from that specific microphone, which you can input in sonarworks to to calibrate it to your specific microphone. that might be worth the extra $25.

That's exactly what I thought when buying it. In hindsight, I don't think the results will differ a lot between the Xref and Behringer if you are in a bedroom or something with questionable acoustics to begin with. It was worth the extra $25 to silent the perfectionist voice in my head though

i strongly recommend the Dayton Audio DMM-6.
Cheaper than behringer, very well built, comes with case, clamp, and they give you a customized calibration file to download from its web page.
I used it to calibrate my speakers with sonarworks, and the difference is night and day.
