Anybody using Audiogridder?

Discussion in 'Computer Hardware' started by Lenny Belardo, Jul 9, 2020.

  1. I have an idle Mac lying about doing nothing and I came across Audiogridder and it sounds like an interesting, possible use for the spare mac.
This is where being a Mac fan boy exposes my weaknesses, for it appears to require some degree of computer knowledge and how they really work. Networking. Right there is a whole world of stuff that I always left to IT guys.
I love the idea of being able to use the power of a server to take the plugin load off the main computer, but do I need the plugins on the server? That's not going to work because they are linked to the main Macs ID. If anyone has any experience with this, please advise or watch this space as I fumble my way through it. I may work it out by trial and error.

Yes i was wondering if technology has caught up. This has worked for me :like:. Pc laptop, running Server version. Mac pro, client plugin. Standard ethernet cable set a static ip on the server and off we go. Not all plugins load but the majority is just what i need.

  4. It's working perfectly for me now. It's doubled my plugin capacity. Two 4GHz macs with 32 Gb RAM. Great for those hungry Acustica plugins.

This is an incredible concept. I'm not sure if this is possible with AudioGridder (or any other software) but I want to capture the audio and MIDI on the computer that is hosting the effect and running the DSP? Is this possible? I want one side to host the DSP and capture MIDI and playback audio. I want the other side to display the UI and allow for remote control of the host side. Is this what AudioGridder does?

From what I'm reading... you are using a single Mac (which is what I wish to do)? I have a copy of Parallels... and I take it you are using that also? If you have just a moment... could you do a quick rundown on how to set up... or maybe just a few screen captures? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Also, this goes to anyone else that is using this configuration... again ahead of time for any info!
