No, since the releases also have pre-patched executables for compatibility with the keygen, and unlocking all the addons.

 

For those waiting on R2R to patch. Do yourself a favor and install the trial, and download all the available packs first as you won't be able to do this with a patched 11 version.

 

I have a lot of (graveyards if you must) projects currently with the Live 10. So where do I start, how to manage all the current ALP packs (got like 200GB of them) plus everything else associated with the Live 10 ? Should I uninstall them (Live 10) first before installing the trials ? Will all the ALP works with the 11 ? because yer know, all have sister-site licenses. I'm just worried about all the work.

Main concern : What if the patched version never released ? it's highly unlikely, but what then after 90 days?

 

You should be able to have 10 and 11 installed at the same time. On PC, I still have Live 9 installed along with 10.

If possible, make a backup of your projects folder, or at least save any new/updated projects clearly labeled "Project Name XX L11" keeping the originals in case you need to revert back to Live 10. Avoid mass resaving of projects until you're 100% certain you're safe to stick with 11.

Not sure about ALP package compatibility, but a guess would say they should be compatible, otherwise all of the old packs would need to be maintained/updated every time a new Live version is released.

I think by default those packs install into a shared Ableton folder that isn't specific to each version. Definitely check your installation locations beforehand so you don't mess everything up. Uninstalling Live 10 should only affect the Live 10 installation folder - If I'm wrong about that, let me know.

my bad, I didn't mention specifically that it is the authorization of the ALP packs that is my main concern. I'm still using old ALP for Live 9, it seems like Live 10 just added "Legacy" to the pack name and all of them works okay.

Also, it make sense for them to give all the free-pass for all the old packs for Live 11 trial right? so existing user/customer can try them. Hmm. Hopefully someone can confirm about this first. I eff-ed up too many times with DAW installation and just last month it happened to my Reaper (wrong installation folder for updates) it took few weeks to get all the preferences and scripts sorted back to normal. Can't take the risk.

How do you download ALP when you don't have a licence? When I click on "get more packs", it takes me to the Ableton page. I'm signed in but it reads: "You don't have any licenses yet. Register a product".

 

I have got the 90 days blessing. Saving and Exporting activated successfully.
Make sure you clean Previous Ableton Folders before install. I use the Serach tool called "Everything" to manually clean my PC.

 

Aren't the packs authorized individually? I would think for legitimate owners (of the packs) their licenses would carry over into the trial. But having them unlocked without authorization in the trial would probably be too convenient to exploit.

I saw this however in their Trial notes from Live 10:

I honestly don't know how the authorization for the ALP work. Here's a screenshot from the Licenses page from my Live 10. It has been like that before I downloaded any packs until I get myself a new hard drive and install all the factory pack last year. I assume the license comes with the "Suite" package that includes everything (all the packs).

But since you said it can work side by side with Live 10, I think it is possible to install it and not connect it with the old ALP folders. Everything in custom folders far away from the Live 10. Thanks again.

 

I installed the Suite and all my Live 10 settings have been transferred to Live 11 (VST Folder,Audio Engine,Cache etc) No Authorization but won't be a long wait for that. Win10 UTD

 

I truly doubt 369 add-ons are included with the Suite. Those are unlocked courtesy of R2R

Ah, probably that. I thought the Suite package includes everything.

Anyway, I installed it on another drive/partition. Apparently it copies all the preferences from my Live 10 and sidebar folder setup, packs and everything, it is loading them all now.

Tested some of the packs, all works for now, it is still scanning, it's a big library.
