I have been testing the Izotope Tonal Balance Control for a while, but since the last version it has stopped working. I've tried reinstalling the latest v9 version, it doesn't let me install v8 either. Well I installed the whole suite except Tonal Balance Control.
Does this happen to someone else?

That OS seems to be nothing but trouble, and theyre trying to make things worse with the M1 chip

 

I had not seen this answer...That's right, Catalina.
But the strange thing is that I have used it without problems for a long time, and suddenly there is no way. It doesn't even pass the audio through.

 

I tested it on commercially released music and it was always off on a lot of things I use for references. So how is music I make even going to work with it. Never looking at it again.

 

My bet is that you have installed a Moria Izotope Release recently? As I recall there was a problem with one of his Izotope updates that broke TBC.
Just check the mac izotope release comments on sister site. You prolly have to roll back to older version of Neutron or Ozone.

Incase you are interested - TBC can load your personal reference tracks.

 

Does it still say the wrong and don't match up between the lines though?

Theoretically it loads the average of the song you load and graphs it. Only one way to find out. Give it a test.

 

When reinstalling V9 the patch won't apply...and as I said, I tried to install previous versions but the installer gives an error and TBC won't install.
I have tried deleting all traces of izotope from my machine but the problem persists.

By the way, could someone explain me how to replace TBC using Span or similar?

, using that plugin is a waste of time, better to stick with conventional usage of reference tracks, with stuff like metric ab and adjusting frequency balance accordingly...

Never heard of him but I laughed so hard when watching the video above when he starts out with saying "this is the second best channel about audio engineering according to" blah blah blah... and then proceeds to show the feedspot website That instantly makes me not want to watch anything made by him!

I totally agree with him. And he actually proved his point very professionally showing many examples like in all his videos. Actually it's funny to read these comments. Only total beginner will not realize how Tonal Balance Control plugin sucks.

Never trust in sound engineer that doesn't put a de-esser in the videos.
I use TBC but i use the general view and don't the specific, it works for me, my song always lacked of mid range and always have troubles with the loudness because of that.
It depends of you, i use as a guideline and not like a reference.

 

True! TBC sucks! It's totally off. Only brain dead believers will use it to be honest.

 

I thought it was just me, but I stopped using TBC long ago because the weird result I get from it when playing the track on other systems.

ADPTR Metric AB reference is the way to go, as as much as the information it gives from the comparison, it also ask you to stick to the ol' "use your ear".

Exactly. Millions of users know TBC sucks. It's so funny to read these thread. Some smartasses here make it look like this plugin is good. Even Izotope guys were thinking to stop selling this plugin.

 

TBC is Working fine here in Catalina and Big Sur. You know, Tonal Balance Control is included Izotope Neutron and Ozone Advanced as well. So you can just run the installer, de-select everything except for Tonal Balance Control, install it, patch it. Done.

 

How come you know "millions" of users' Opinions about Tonal Balance Control? :D
