Oh, now that's refreshing to hear. I didn't know they'd changed that. It's a good policy. If you keep punishing people for not finding your updates appealing, they're just going to find them less appealing.

But do they not charge u for semi major upgrades then? Like .5 update with 50 or 100€? Or has this changed too.

And is Cubase erally still that buggy?

(I mean Ableton isnt better there with 200€ or so for major upgrades, just to add prespective and comparision)

Based on the forum responses when v11 came out, the most stable release for years apparently, v10.5 was buggy, as was v10, updates fixed the issues couple of months in.
It's true with the yearly upgrade charges it feels like a subscription, but .5 updates are usually significant and cost around 50 euros. Since I became aware of buying upgrades during their summer sales, then upgrade during the grace period of a newer release, you save significant money, especially for most of producers who are hobbyists, let's face it. If it's for a living, then it's a business expense, but many pro producers do not upgrade apparently that often, especially mid-projects which makes sense.

Cubase is shite full stop 5 was more stable than all their other updates, I've owned it twice and sold it within a month, I like the look of Cubase that's about it, there's much better workflow and more stable DAWs than Cubase in my opinion.

I stopped using the steinberg forums a long time ago. I quickly ran out of patience, and had to quit to avoid committing suicide.. or murder.
No matter what question we may ask, no matter the issue we have, no matter the suggestion we might make,
Immediately, a few fanboys arrive, and flood the thread with 'are you sure you need it ?..."Why would you do that ?"... "have you done this or that? "... ", "why don't you do this and that instead ?"...
If we have an issue with, eg, cubase, a hoard of fanboys, with thousands of amazing, interesting and ultra helpful replies, week show up, just to say there is nothing wrong with cubase, bla bla... and the problem must be "me", my computer, my desk, my flowers..
I'm sure some guys won't even read the thread, and will automatically reply "oh, the problem must be your computer, etc " !

Then, the guys over at steinberg aren't willing to listen to whatever feed back they get.
Eg, we live in a planet and era where a japanese could find himself working in spain.. or a spanish guy could travel and work in the US.. or a brazilian guy could go to japan... or the American guy could go work with the Outloud guys in Italy....
So why the hell can't we have an option to choose which language we want to receive our newsletter..? Why can't the japanese guy , who went to spain, and purchased a 2nd cubase license, go to the newsletter options, and choose 'japanese".. instead of receiving it in spanish ?
Newsletters come with our full name and data, coupon codes, etc.. and I don't want google trabslate to copy the whole text to their servers !
It takes 2 minutes for steinberg to add that feature to the newletter...but when asked, once, they didn't give 2 phuqs about it.
Too busy creating a new skin for that 2002 plugin, so they can add it as a "NEW feature", on the next cubase version.

    Yes, steinberg forum= totally useless.

lmao this is so spot on
when people were arguing against raising the maximum inserts I couldn't believe my fucking eyes. "why don't you just create an FX channel, and send the audio through there and have a big spaghetti project because you can't add inserts instead of complaining" wtf is wrong with people

I don't understand these type of topics. There's only one correct answer: TRY THE DEMO AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF!

Cubase forum useless? Useless for WHAT? I've reported some bugs during the years, never had a problem using the forum. I also helped a lot of other people with their problems. And I got help on my problems. Steinbergs new forum is based on Tags, some people like it, some people don't. I haven't decided what I think yet. It's easy to find correct topics but harder to get an overview.

Sure, I agree some people on the forum are useless, but that is some users, just ignore them.

It's funny to see all those "experts" who doesn't even own the product, or didn't even REALLY test it. One reason is that it isn't cracked I guess.. And that makes people angry for some reason. Just don't buy if you find it bad! If you don't like the dongle, then don't use it! There are so many DAWs out there now. I don't have any problems with a dongle.

Things like "u!hm Me SO ANGRY .. Version 5 waz ze best!!".. yea ok, good for you. Stay on version 5 then... I use version 11 and don't have more or less bugs than other versions.

The thing is that Cubase has a user base of a lot of professional mixing and recording engineers. Producers have different ideas on what they want... for example: a recording or mixer engineer does not need more than 8 Inserts. But as a producer, I actually really need more than 8 inserts. Which Cubase now have. But I understand that some people question it, they don't understand that modern music production uses a lot of plugins.

I'm not even a fanboy. Bitwig is superior for electronic music production, but it kind of sucks in mixing and recording duties. So I just two DAWs. No problem!.. If you are serious about your music you will see each tool for what it is. And what it isn't.

And again: it's easy to decide for yourself, just demo it...

Pseudo discussion: Who needs a newsletter in their own language? Just use english then!?.. English is taught in almost every country in the world. Even in North Korea you can learn english.. and AUTO-translate is easy to install into your browser if you can't read english. Just contact Steinberg or CHANGE the country setting in your account preferences on the website........

This only confirms things in the Steinberg house are not alright.
They can only blame themselves. They should have hired a better coding team and expanded their beta team by now and the fault goes to the leadership, stubborn and arrogant, they are not listening to their users.
Even the look of the DAW is unoriginal these days, copying Logic, which shows just how desperate they are.

People have issues with repeating bugs and issues and new bugs on top of old bugs, the new stuff in Cubase is not a problem imo, its the fundamental stuff that is the issue.
