Is it possible to promote your music efficiently and gain new real fans with 0 dollars?

  1. Have you got something for us to listen to? A link to a Soundcloud track? Let's see if the world is missing out on a major talent.

Do it! Because nothing will change until my previous comment is satisfied. They ruined music.

  3. I imagine you are smoking a pipe, twirling your waxed moustache with one hand and holding a glass of sherry in the other while standing on a zebra rug which you shot on your last African safari.

losing hope? Or just getting a good smack in the face by reality!!! Realize you live in a world now where an internet video starring an overweight Asian in a suit rapping Gangnam Style had over 1 billion views nearly a decade ago. Realize you live in a world where industry plants like Billie Eilish & Dua Lipa are shoved down your throat so much you subconsciously start hearing the riff to “Bad Guy” in your head while cutting vegetables in your kitchen & you start humming the bass line to “Don’t Start Now” while taking a shit... Realize making money in this industry isn’t about good music anymore. It’s about becoming a culture parasite. It’s about literally selling your soul/talent & trading it in for a boob or a blow iob just to even get a seat at the table...
End of the day, do what makes you happy. If playing good music makes you happy do it. Just don’t expect to make a living off of what most musicians would call good music.

They always do that. It's always them.
Music itself is fine! I have it sitting alive and well within me right now as I write this!
    Music is not ruined.

    Oh, and Hi btw!
Was wondering when you'd come back and create a new account!
It's really obvious who you are. Again.:winker:

    @Jake Jlinngall
So you obviously know that the technology we use in film and music is from the military sector, right?
And you know that the US and UK had their pick of the German scientists after world war II?
I grew up in the cutting rooms and dubbing theatres of Elstree Studios and Soho.
I have been in the same room as Lou Grade.
I know how deep this all goes. And why.

As I implied before, man up and deal with it.

I love the second one better, though

This should never be about money. I know I'm really not making any but I still love it.

What angers me is not that I can't afford the gear they use but how much I appreciate it and I have no way of even renting or accessing it but fuckers with no musical talent at all gets it..(talking about the plants not the directors, pt's)and they probably don't even realize the opportunity they have and how truly amazing the gear they are using to help make their art is.

In a past life like I said before I must have did something shitty and this is my punishment.

  8. I'd actually be surprised if anybody pursued a career in music in order to get rich. Property developer? Investment banker? Yes, but musician? Nuh uh.

  9. Now your whining is getting annoying. Oh, and just to annoy you more..... I have a Minimoog!

I have great audio gear too but I think that's besides my point about what I am saying.

It never was for me, then somebody paid me and I liked it!
Imagine a happy basket-weaver, eventually really good and quick with the technique, amassing an impressive stock.
    The inevitable will always happen.
    No, I think it's perfect:
If you and Lenny were the same age, yet he had a Minimoog, does this mean he stands a better chance of making a hit than you...?

Again, I say this is part of the ill-usion:
I have to restate this because I don't see that you got it first time around.
@Moogerfooger has also alluded to this very well.
A lot of money goes into creating the illusion that we are all buying it.
And then, when you check it, none of this money is real and is just created out of thin air!
How else can countries borrow and owe billions or trillions?
It doesn't represent gold or silver anymore, that's for sure...

  13. You said you can't afford to even rent the gear that people use to make hits. Now you say you have great gear. Which is it? And what music do you make? I'd like to hear some.

It's a bubble. The central bank creates an imaginary loan to print the money and that builds interest.

The country is ran by idiots. I'm half black and I can admit we are being fucking used. Use history promote hate to enrage the worst of our race. All while eliminating smart people like you and I. They would want people like you and I dead and have a country full of illiterate cardi b's because they are easier to control. All while creating big brother, social media and cancel culture and a army of anyone who disagrees on unpaid watch.

This is from 18 years ago! I don't like the take, but hey.
It was all live, drummer with click, so we could comp her vox. And we did! haha.
Shame the gal couldn't write any more lyrics. Awful loose bass player gives the groove a vibe, I reckon.
Drummer was Mark Heywood/Haywood, played with a lot of jazz names. He did the perc overdub too.
5 tracks cut in 3 days, maybe a 4th day to complete the mixes (not me). Probably less than £300 a day because we got a deal.
Again, through Malcolm Toft's own Trident desk.
Best bit obviously from 3:12 onwards! hehe.
I DON'T KNOW WHY I AM POSTING THIS HERE.

Some really old "Why am I not famous?" cliches in here that I hoped the general populace would've evolved out of by now, but I guess not. I'll go through them one at a time.

    1. "It seems like even if your song is produced, mixed & mastered perfectly and your voice sounds amazing that is not enough to grab the attention of people now and days."

These days? It's always been like that.

    2. "I think this is a deeper issue of society. We're all [blah blah everyone like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears crap instead of blah blah]."

No, it isn't. It's always been like that. There was never this magical time when people could guarantee get to famous on "talent" (whatever nebulous definition that actually is) alone. Not now. Not in the 1960s. Not in the 1800s. Not in the 1700s. Not any time anywhere.

    3. "It's all about who you know."

No, it isn't. This is the equivalent of an old wives' tale in marketing. It really just doesn't work that way because if you're actually doing music or entertainment shit that's making millions of dollars for yourself and a lot of people, you're usually too busy keeping that going to help some person "you know" get big themselves. Even when they do, they still have the same odds as everyone else and more often than not fail all the same.

That's as far as I got before I decided reading more would just make me ill.

Folks need to get it out of their head that anyone who becomes famous for whatever reason does so because they're supposed to be famous or because they're NOT supposed to be famous. Life just doesn't work that way. There is no tangible reason people and things become famous - if there was, we'd know it by now and we'd already be exploiting it for success and ironically ruining it because we abused it too much. People and things are famous because they just got lucky doing what they were doing. They tried to make it big like they tried to cash in a lottery ticket and actually won.

That's all it really amounts to. Being successful and famous is an art, not a science. There is no guaranteed way to do it right, just loads of guaranteed ways to do it wrong. It's been like this since ancient times because that's just how it works. Nothing has actually changed but the details and entities.

Turn off your mind, close your mouth and ears and act like the stupid and illiterate, then you'd be famous in a matter of second.

This is how it works in this century.
