Sure they do, they have regular sales, including for the full bundle, for a lot less than the regular price.

 

Would've never bought/afforded their bundle at usual price. However, they had a large discount not that long ago on individual plugs. Think I bought a couple. Soon afterwards they had a deal where the plugs I bought could upgrade me to the entire bundle for a low price... and I did, heh.

Took a few years waiting. But like others said while I typed this..... they've been having sales often nowadays

 

Hence the sudden $400 drop in price, yeah.

I'm a Mac user, thank you for the heads up. How this channel strip compares to Brainworx channel strips?

 

IMO the bus compressor is very good. I demoed it recently and its a massive improvement compared to their early version.
I really like Acustica Sand compressor but the SSL is easier to dial in, it responds very well, a lot better compared to Waves.

 

does it still need iLok, loads slower and uses more memory than reversed version?

 

I haven't used the Brainworx but I did own an SSL SIX mixer and it sounds every bit as good as that - and definitely more flexible. The Bus Comp is worth it alone. Really glues/levels an already good mix. IMHO it has a bit more depth than is usual for SSL style plugs. That is of course subjective.

Caveat I am having a little bit of fiddyliness with the Buss Comp potentiometers (Ratio specifically) but I already emailed SSL and it could just be my system. Best to just demo it since sound is so hard to put into words.

The brainworx ones do that "whole console" thing which really does make a difference. And they are modelling the analog desks, and have a bit of that vibe.

The SSL Native are not analog modellers, and they are not modelling a whole console, nor trying to be analog in general. They are pretty clean, using digital SSL algorithms which really do sound great and musical. If you're looking for analog mojo, or that console thing, you won't really find them here. But they do sound pretty great, *especially* the bus comp - I agree with the above posts - it's fabulous.

Yo, Thanks for the heads up!!! the new buss comp sounds really good!!! I compared it to the UAD one and it does all of the good compression but a little more transparently which is really great!!! also it clocks in at 0 ms Latency which is incredibly useful for a recording engineer, now use the buss comp and don't worry about turning it off for tracking

THE trick is setting attack and release time, ratio 4. threshold all the way up and bring the wet down to 0. listen to what happens when you pull the threshold and play with the make up... mm-hm. then put whatever buss plugin you like
