I understand that you need at least Windows 10 v1909 to install the Ableton 11 Beta according to some other users on the Beta forum.

So does that mean people on anything less including windows 7 will not be able to upgrade? Updating to 1909 unfortunately breaks my system for some reason, BSOD on boot.

I tried to install the setup file from the beta and indeed it does give me an error.

Anyone else have luck installing the beta on an updated system and copying the files over to an older system?

I noticed most releases of the cracked version of previous versions of Ableton include a zip of the folder structure instead of the setup file. I'm hoping that's a way to bypass the issue.

The new features aside from vocal comping aren't game changing or anything, but if this is the new restriction going forward for ableton, it's disappointing

In general, an installation of any program is just files & folders + registry entries, and in almost every case it's possible to extract all the files and registry entries needed to run the program...BUT, if you are getting an error when you try to install the setup, you might want to ask yourself why is that error happening.
If it really turns out that the new ableton versions aren't compatible with your OS, then I wouldn't recommend playing around with windows registry, or if you really want to try it, make sure to backup your C drive first in the unlikely case that something goes wrong.

The only way that I know to extract the files and registry entries from an exe is to just install the program on another machine, and monitor the installation. You can check what registry keys are created with a program called "Regfromapp" (run it as admin) : http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/reg_file_from_application.html
And you can monitor what files are being created with "Folderchangesview": http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/folder_changes_view.html
I'm not sure if ableton installs any type of drivers and/or if the thing that I have just described is doable with programs that install drivers.

You might be wondering how could you install the program in another OS and do this if you don't have another PC and you can't get it installed in yours. Well, you could try running a virtual machine and install it on the VM..

There's also the possibility that this is just a bug and that you'll be able to install future versions of ableton normally. As far as I understood from your message, it's not official that ableton supports only Win10 v1909..

I can atleast open the last Beta b29 on windows 8.1 Pro x64. (well i cant get past the auth screen ofc, since there is no blessing for beta version out :/)
So i guess it just opens below this build, but ableton gives you no support.
    Thats just my guess.
