I'd recently downloaded the latest ANA 2 (W10) release on the sister site and I noticed that ANA doesn't save the ratings that I assign for the presets. Its obviously not a major concern, but nonetheless, I do find it easier to mark presets that I find work for me. I know you couldn't import samples unless you made an "Imported" folder in "C:\ProgramData\Sonic Academy\ANA 2\Waves\User\Sampler Osc" so I'm wondering if similarly I need to make a folder somewhere for ANA to store an XML file or something that marks my starred presets. Thanks!

Edit: I just noticed, ANA 2 has automatically marked "StarLord" (poly) with 5 stars. I can't remove the rating and if I try to change the rating to something else, after hitting refresh, it goes back to 5 stars.

I know this won't help you much, but I can report that I don't have any issues with the ratings with legit Ana2 (Win10).
And I can't find anything like an XML file where the ratings would be stored. There's a folder under AppData\Roaming\Sonic Academy\ANA 2 where three Ana 2 files exist. But when I look at the "Ana 2.settings" file there's nothing about the ratings in it.

Maybe it's just a GUI glitch, have you tried using a different GUI?

 

Well of COURSE it automatically marks Starlord with 5 stars! Starlord is ALWAYS 5 stars!
Actually I DO like it, but marked it 3 and it keeps the setting.
It seems I can change ratings on all mine.
Version: ANA.2.v2.0.94-Slate.Bundle.r2r-2021.01.01 using the Dune 3 Tribute skin... and the others , too. They all seem to work.

So... permissions issue maybe?
I find that "C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Sonic Academy\ANA 2\" holds a settings file, they keyfile , and .. a mysterious data file ..

It maybe a permission issue
Are you logged as Admin?
Check if Ana2 folder is read only, if it is, change it.

 

Thanks for your reply guys! Yes, logged in as admin, I'll check the read-write permission for the folder and get back.
Also, doesn't seem to be a GUI glitch, had the problem with the dark and light skins.(if that's what you're referring to)

Edit: Nope, that didn't fix it. Once I reopen the vst or even hit refresh, any changes are lost.
(Also, yes, Starlord is a nice preset, can't deny! XD)

I'm going to try a reinstall and see if that does anything.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but when I try to remove "read only" under properties in the ANA2 folder, when i reopen the properties window it says it's still read only, and of course I'm admin of my own system.. really strange.. I also have the problem with presets ratings. Not a big deal because this is not Omnisphere with 1 million presets, but yeah it would be nice to have it working.

 

I added full control to the users group. I didn't uncheck anything.

 

No idea on how to do that, could you explain step by step maybe? (please) :D

 

Reinstalling and changing folder permissions before opening the plugin didn't work. I'm extremely confused, not gonna lie! Gonna try changing it to full control and seeing if it does anything.

 

Oddly enough, I'm checking now and that's what's happened with my setup too.

Edit: 1)My bad for double posting.
2)Changing the permissions under "security" to full control for users seems to have fixed it. The subfolder "ANA 2" is still set to read only since it reverted back previously, but it's working nonetheless. Thanks for the help!

 

Rightclick ANA2 folder -> Properties -> Security Tab -> Edit -> Click Users -> Full Control Checkbox
