    I've tried installing the softube new cracked releases. And on windows 10/ableton 10 none of the vst3/vst2 plugins are visible
    Anyone else has similar issues ?

    Are they installed into a location that Ableton knows about?

    Your location may be different to what is shown above

    Because I think you are using LTSC N and that is the version without Media features. Download and install Windows media features for your version of Windows (1809 in my case) and you should be good to go.

    You really think this could be the reason ?
    My vst folder is a custom one with only 64 bits vst. Most vst are here. Only a few doesnt usually works like scaler2..
    I'll try to install the media features and report back

    If I remember correctly, the Scaler installer by default puts the VST in a weird location, like "Program Files/VSTPlugins/" or something like that. I had this problem a while back, and reinstalled, changing the location. As far the Softube stuff, everything shows up fine in Steinberg/VSTPlugins/Softube, so this is probably another issue. If you naivate to the folder I just mentioned, are all the .dll's there?

    And one more thing- If Scaler2 isn't working in your custom folder, do this. Uninstall. Reinstall, and set the location to "Steinberg/VST Plugins/Plugin Boutique". Copy the folder. Paste as Shortcut to your custom folder. Should work perfectly now. You can do that with any plugin to save yourself a headache with moving things around, especially if they are linked to other resources, like Scaler is for its library.

    @Haliax answer was the way to go.
    If poorly programmed (every second installer), installers place VST plugins in random directories and your DAW will fail to find it.
    The best way to avoid this common source of errors is to define a path yourself where ALL VST2 are installed. There is also the possibility to enter a default location for VST2 plugins in the Windows registry*. Unfortunately, not all manufacturers adhere to this convention either.

    For VST3 Steinberg has hardcoded a directory where it HAS to be. You can't change that directory.
    But because you can't trust the installers, I created a new directory ("C:\Program Data\VST3 plugins x64") for it as well, moved all my previous VST3s to it and put a symbolic link (using "Hardlink shell extension") to the new directory in the default location for VST3.

    This way all my plugins are placed in only two easy to remember directories.

    * For instance:
    If you would like a C:\Program Data\VST2 plugins x64 to be the defailt path use
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VST]
    "VSTPluginsPath"="C:\\ProgramData\\VST2 plugins x64"

    You can copy the two lines into a .reg file and execute it.

    That's what worked for me on 3 live and 4 virtual PCs. I first installed 1809 LTSC and everything was OK, Softube showed up, no problems. Then I had to reinstall it but I installed LTSC N instead. No Softube plugins. I tried and installed every runtime recommended, no luck. I installed then LTSC in Vmware and Softube worked again. Main difference between LTSC and LTSC N is Media Features which LTSC N is missing. I downloaded it from Microsoft website and installed. Softube plugins showed up.

    No problems here on Win 10 1909

    Did you check if softube .DLLs are sitting correctly in "c:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\"?
    Ableton won't find them out of the box if they are not at the exact position because this path is hardcoded by Steinberg.
    Did you install the media features as you stated above?

    Yes i did install the media features.
    The ddls aren't in c:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ because i have a custom folder for them. But they are in the same folders as the vst2 maybe that's the issue ?

    By the standards VST3 plugins must be in the said path. If you use another path you need to tell it to all DAWs etc. you run.
    Best is to use different folders for VST2 and VST3 plugins.
    If you want to use a custom folder for the VST3 folder set a symbolic link to the custom one in the original path so that DAWs can find it (your custom folder) anyway.
