I still waiting for a comparison between the quad cortex and neural dsp plugin amps.
It seens pretty obvious to do this comparison for anyone who have both, but for some reason, it seens like anyone has done yet, lol.

Aren't the plugins part of quad cortext? I don't know much about QC yet but I thought you could load the plugins inside the hardware?

I'm certainly not impressed with their consistent Quad Cortex shipping delays! :(

I dont know if the Q.Cortex amps are the same of the normal plugins, but if so , i would like to hear an AB comparison to see if there is any difference. My guess is they are avoiding it to ppl be more motivated to buy the hardware unit instead of the software.

Well, there might be some of that. But any dedicated hardware is way much faster than software. Like orders of magnitude faster (x10+).
That's why Helix was ported to software quite a few years later than the hardware.
I'm pretty sure no CPU could handle a Kemper software version. Probably similar with the Quad Cortex although is too early to draw conclusions.

For a long time I was eyeing Archetype Plini and Nolly. I bought them last Black Friday, with my first ever salary. Well spent.

What the amps seem to be modeled after:

Nolly: all amps have been modded by Nolly himself. Amp 1 is a Bogner Shiva clean channel Amp 2 is a 2203 Marshall JCM800 Amp 3 is a block-letter Peavey 5150 Amp 4 is a Victory V30 Countess modded to the point where it is barely recognizable according to a quote from Nolly

Plini: Amp 1 is said to be based on a Roland JC120 Amp 2 is based on a Friedman BE100 Amp 3 is based on some 5150 iteration (consensus seemed to be it is one of the newer EVH ones)

Abasi: Amp 1 is probably based on a Morgan AC30 with the added Blend control for piezo-sequel tones Amp 2 is the one no one really seemed to be sure about. Lack of a Mids control led people to believe it was some Orange, but it could just be a custom sound. Amp 3 sounds like another version of a 5150 with the contour switches added

Fortin Cali Suite is an emulation of the Fortin Cali amp

Fortin Nameless is an emulation of the Fortin Meahuggah Signature amp

Fortin NTS is inspired by the Fortin SATAN.

Omega Ampworks Granophyre is an emulation of the...Omega Ampworks Granophyre with 3 power tube choices.

^Just a heads up^ That comment was left last year on reddit which was stolen from some facebook thread so things & opinions might have changed since then.

I have been really enjoying Abasi, it's quickly grown to the top of my list. Been spending lots of time with it lately. Man why do Neural products have to be this good? Hard decisions on what to keep. Nembrini's stuff is not lagging either. Especially their Darkglass!

They are not part of it. In the future, as an added feature, you will be able to charge your Neural plugin sounds to the QC. But you will have to own the plugin in the first place, because they are considered separate products and owning a QC does not give you a license for all the plugins.

The way that this is going to be implemented is not known yet.

Oh cool! Yes of course, I assumed as much. I thought you would have to, I thought that's how it was going to play out in the future with some sort of integration of the plugins or presets between the software & hardware unit.

I could have sworn I'd read that in some article about the QC, glad I wasn't just making that part up in my head. I'm intrigued by it but the price is quite high on it. Let us know how you gel with it when it arrives please! Would love a non youtube opinion on how awesome it is.

Of course I will. But by the time I get mine from Thomann I guess there will be plenty of info from the 1st and 2nd tier preorders.

It's great that you both have tested these so thoroughly! It makes things a load easier for me! Thanks.
Can't think why @celomts would put a Dislike on both your comments though. :dunno:

what I would say with Helix Native though is that it seems to be far more sensitive to input levels, too hot a signal and it just sounds awful. I can’t help think it’s because the software is the same as the hardware units, and its “expecting” the input from converters in the hardware. Using my ‘52 Tele or PRS in single coil mode into a Hi-Z on my ID14 and gain on 0, I still have to have input level dropped at -8db, and when the LP or humbuckers on the PRS are used, it’s down another 6-8db. I do wonder if that is why people don’t like Helix Native, because all the documentation says to have the input levels set a certain way on the meters, but unless the input level itself is dropped, it’s just far far too hot.

That's interesting. Too close a copy for it's own good perhaps?
Good info to know in advance, thanks.
    '52 Tele? Drool...
I mean the PRS, yeah obviously.
    But that Tele. Yes please!

I get why, because you “in theory” can go from studio to stage” with the same tones, but Helix hardware is better at auto detecting the input level. I can swap guitars and maybe boost 2db for level, but that’s it.

it’s the Reissue, not an original sadly. I was never into Tele’s (metal kid!), then saw the insert to Pulse, and there was a pic of Gilmour holding a butterscotch Tele in the rain, and I thought it looked sooooo cool. The other guitarist in the band bought a Squire Tele and I borrowed it and just loved the feel. Fast forward to getting married, and for a wedding present for each other, she wanted a necklace, I wanted another guitar. Knew I was going to have that, but still, went to a high-end shop in Wilmslow and tried the ‘52, then PRS’s (hated the scale length, but the 513 I have is perfect), Godin, Suhr, Musicman, but I knew, and the ‘52 became my daily player until I wanted to just go out with one guitar instead of the Tele and Les Paul, and then the PRS 513 came home. Then I got the Helix as an upgrade from the XTLive, and it was so good, but I couldn’t understand why Helix Native just didn’t cut it. IR’s vs “cabs” was a big difference, but the input level thing, that’s what makes the difference, but finding that answer was not easy, and why they wouldn’t document it or it’s never mentioned given the quality of other ampsims is beyond me.

I still have not found a Plugin that sounds, for me, as good as the Plugin Alliance one for the VH4 amp.

Please, does anyone have an invite for the sister site to go there and vote on the request for that particular plugin?

    Thanks a lot.
