Music Group (Behringer) took over Midas quite a while ago, enabling them to use the Midas brand on their budget Behringer audio interfaces. But i agree that the "Midas" mic-preamps on my UMC202HD sound quite good when recording vocals, even when using a SM58. IMO those Behringers are a great budget option.

 

I dont have any experience with the Behringer audio interface but I´ve owned a Focurite and it sucks big time.

can you hear the noise-floor of the card? or some other noise when you utilize the cpu?
that is what is annoying me on most build in soundcards.

I still shiver while thinking about the AKAI EIE. I do not know why, but they got sold by the masses here locally.
I had 3 different instances where I had to explain that they might as well could throw it in the trash for the purpose they had in mind.
It did not came with a dedicated asio-driver, windows audio would cut out when the asio4all driver was loaded, the latency was horrific, Tracking was of by miliseconds. etc. etc.

Might be. Maybe try turning the gain to Presonus monitors on its lowest comfortable setting, and turn your scarlet interface as loud as it comfortably can be.

 

I've heard/read several times about this issue with Presonus speakers. Maybe it's caused by your speakers as well.

I wouldn't go Behringer UM22, it only goes to 48Khz.
Scarletts at least go up to 96Khz.
If money really is uptight, then yeah, a Scarlett (but if you find a Behringer that goes for 96khz then get Behringer).
