Thank you. I often heard that Geist 2 is considered a "DAW for percussion". It looks very complex for sure.
I heard some bad things about FXpansion though. Apparently their authorization app is glitchy, and they haven't updated this in a long time or something? I'll have to get this the next time they do sales. Passed on their last offer.

My opinion on FXpansion: great plugins, but a bit on the unstable and buggy side, authorisation app is a complete shit. Shame, because their synths and drum machines really are top-quality feature-wise and sound-wise.

Thank you SineWave, always appreciate your input.
I heard similar stories. I'd not be so concerned about their glitchy stuff if that wouldn't give me reason to be worried about the future of these plugins. I can remember reading disappointed forum posts a while back from users who were frustrated about the bad support they were receiving. But I can't remember the details.
Also that default skin looks pretty bright to me. I think there's dark skins but their installation is not as effortless as with other plugins.

Absolutly. Especialy when you use your own selected loops. Its a beast for loop mangling. But not really a drum machine in the classic way

Silverbird was not a bad beatbox in 'old school' Reaktor, my go to drum machine when putting together a techno ensemble.

It is! I thought it was Hardware at first, looks like something Elektron would make.

The Microtonic fits the bill here.

Thanks, the thing I dislike about the Microtonic editor is that it doesn't give you full control over the intensity of the hits. I think it only allows for three different ones? And there is only one "accent". Feels a bit dated.

Yes it's the latest version. I'm usually with Superior Drummer but if I need a quick electronic drum track, Spark is still my way to go.

@waverider i agree the on board pattern editor is limited, but you can alway use your DAW for more subtle patterns, I find the limited editor can also add to the authenticity of the vintage style kits. I also own a copy of drum computer, breaktweaker, and many other drum plugins. But I keep using mTonic for the sound and it’s tweak ability, I often layer it with Maschine for quick inspiration. Yes it’s quite old now, and it’s not the answer to everything drum, but for electronic drums, it’s just the biz. The latest updates have given us resizable GUI, skins, vintage emulations and new macros. I don’t often rant about software but I’m a huge fan of this underrated beast.

One important thing to consider is ,
Do you want to synthesize drums by your own or do you want to use ready made drum samples?
Or do you want a sequencer ?

makes sense, thank you. Yeah I agree Sonic Charge is a really underrated developer. I like how they take their time with their products and still keep caring ten years after the release. Not too many devs do that.

StiX by Xils is nice. All mentioned above are nice. It depends how you use it, what processing you put in etc...
