I have always just used drum rack in Live . Recently though i saw someone working in Addictive drums and the processing workflow peaked my interest. What plug in would you recommend if im doing experimental electronic stuff?

I'd say Battery. It has huge modulation capabilities. It's a beast. But you must learn how to use it properly.... and the learning curve is... well... it took me around five years to really get deep on it... firstly because of the interface.

yeah, sonic charge- microtonic is a really good one. It will entice you to learn programming your own Beats and at the same time offer an Awesome sound engine to synthesize your own crazy Drum sounds

I started off with grooveboxes. Roland MC-303 and Korg Electribes.

I Love hardware beatboxes - and you can get em used for mad cheap - almost the same as software - but having real Buttons to push and knobs to turn is a real thrill for those just starting to explore

    Maschine 2
    Geist 2
    Battery 3
FM8/MSoundFactory (synths but awesomely powerful for synthesizing percussion)
    Reaktor
Punchbox (especially with a custom template with a MIDI controller)
    VCV Rack

+1 for XO. So fun to use for browsing my own synthesized audio. I'm OCD so I save everything even when I don't need it

yeah, my Favorite Reaktor instrument for beat warping is Ultraloop by Twisted Tools

and LoopRippa and GoBox if you could get your Hands on that but that was some 'old school' Reaktor

not the Aphex Twin and Nine Inch Nails version we have now

I own a few of those already mentioned (Addictive Drums 2, Izotope Breaktweaker). I'm wondering what you guys think of Sugar Bytes' Drum Computer. IMOHO, it's a nice piece of software. - What I like most about it is the chance to randomize single parameters within each drum synth channel (each of them has 3 synthesis layers with the possibility of tuning drums - and you can also use your own samples, to boot!). You can set at least a couple of choke groups (that is, a closed hat channel will choke an open hat if you want to). Each drum channel has its own fx, modulation matrix, and there are also master fxs. Drum Computer also sports an internal sequencer capable of creating polyrhythms (different-lenghts for each drum track), possibility randomizing of almost every aspect of each drum sequencer channel (velocity, chance, rolls, position offset...). - I'd like to hear more of you guys' opinions about it. Especially the sound quality. I'm a sort of a newbie and I can't say much about that).

why is it whenever asks "what's the best..." or "whats your favourite"...

half the responses just go on to list every possible VST that's out there.

Captain Beats... - there I said it.
