    I Have a looping issue
****(when looping small areas like 1 bar)****

    WITH MIDI ITS OK
i can change midi notes on the fly and the change is immediately reflected as soon the play cursor goes over them

    BUT WITH AUDIO
There seems to be some delay as even though I am changing to a new audio, the change is not reflected immediately. The play cursor will go over the new sample, but still play the old sample the first time, and then its fixed when it loops one more time. This is only when looping small areas as explained.

It just seems like its not fast enough to catch the change the first time around.........

I want to get this fixed.....can someone let me know whats causing it or if its a bug?

How's your exact procedure? Do you delete the item and pull a new one into the loop? Are you moving the audio file 'under' the the loop?

I assume it's coming from the buffer. Try to decrease your buffer size and disable anticipative fx processing in reaper settings.

don't know if this is related or not but i found that by default reaper puts short fades at the beginning and ending of audio files. try to see if there's a fade there that would make you hear something that's in another track. just an idea.

i've set this key command to throw in the new samples to replace of the previous selected sample through the media explorer. So i select the sample in the media explorer, hit the command and it replaces it

so the timing i'm doing it is ok its just the program seems slow to catch the change...even thought its a small loop section, it still should be faster its a bit annoying to me

    i'll try this

i don't think so as its a completely new audio item that replaces it..

you were right!!! thanks, what are the disadvantages of me lowering the buffer? as i have no idea about this, it was 1200 and made it 600...now its faster to catch the change. but i assume it comes at a cost?

Try REAPER Preferences>Audio>Device and turn on "Pre-zero output buffers, useful on some hardware".

    That should do it.
