I see (what looks like) an AM/FM indicator in the vu meter for the FET compressor plugin by softube. Anyone here knows what it does/indicates? Can't find anything about it in the related section of their manual.

Even worse, it's a so called "receiver" - meaning both amp and a radio. Yuck. I always hated those.

I really have no idea why Softube put those in the GUI. It has absolutely nothing to do with 1176 that it's supposed to emulate. Honestly, it looks completely stupid, and that skeuomorphic GUI... but it sounds good.

Not as good as FETpressor, IMHO.

I also dont know what REMOTE & AM/FM do, cos yes the manual doesnt say....

    What the fuck is it?!

The original 1176 doesnt have anything extra on the VU meters, just "VU" and "UA"/UREI"

    soundonsound say:
So, how the hell does softube add new stuff to an old hardware emulation, and not mention a damn thing about it in any documentation?

Apparently "Remote" works in the AU ver for Protools, when parameters are automated or linked to a controller I believe, no mention of AM/FM though. Safe to assume it doesn't do shit?

I love high quality old vintage receivers, build quality vs say, a behringer product is like wet mud vs polished gold.

And i love the sound of the softube 1176, although i never wondered what the extra VU meter stuff is until now,
And i think FETpressor is equally good, but it reacts so differently i cant compare them. FETpressor is just a new idea anyway it isnt a clone/emu of 1176 afaik

Oh wait, my parents had one of those giant Pioneer kind of all-in-one with the vinyl plate above. 80s stuff.

And yeah, it makes no sense at all.
