I need to expand my ram. Currently I have a 2x8GB TridentX F3-1600C7D-16GTX DDR3-1600MHz, which runs fine. I can not find to buy another same pair of modules but I did find the TridentX F3-2400C10D-16GTX DDR3-2400MHz. So, same ram family, but different speed and latency. My mobo is an ASUS Z97-A USB-3.1 and support both types of speed.
Specs taken from G.Skill site: both are Unbuffered, Non-ECC, SPD Speed 1333MHz, SPD Voltage 1.50V and XMP ready.
Tested speed, latency, voltage
1600MHz, 7-8-8-24-2N, 1.50V
2400MHz, 10-12-12-31-2N, 1.65V.
As I understand, I should
1. downclock the speed of 2400MHz module to match my older ram 1600MHz
2. change the latency of 1600MHz module to match the 2400MHz
3. feed both with same voltage amount: 1.5V
WilL it work?
Finally, is it better to go to a solution like the

yea dont especially if there the wrong speed and timings ruin your system

 

As far as I know, your mobo will downgrade the faster memory to match the slower one automatically, so there's nothing you need to setup, actually.

Watch out for the memory slots, though. They should have different colors. Keep each pair in the same color coded slot...At least this is required in my Asus mobo for dual channel to work properly.

@RMorgan I 've already my old memory, so I 'll installed the new pair on the empty slots.

 

Matched ram is a thing for a reason you can mix different ram but issues may arise
