Can't help but notice that of all the stuff on that first part of the manager you've bought just autotune and masterdesk. Is Masterdesk really that great? Seen it go on sale a bunch of times at PA and never really bothered with it

It's pretty good. I'm assuming the PA one is just as good. I will usually use it as the first stage in my mastering chain.

 

i Guys, a music producer friend has all the uad plugins and only one device register, is it possible that i register my device with his account in order to have all these plugins. If Yes how can i reset mine ( registered with my accout and my system) ? thanks

Hi, someone is offering me UAD OCTO USB at cheap price, it comes with like 80% of UAD plugins. He told me the plugins are on the hardware but he won't transfer them but I can use them.

I tried reading through this thread but I'm stupid, how exactly does this work? Can he deauthorize my hardware and plugins ever?

As I understand it from this thread,
as long as I don't update the UAD Hardware or Connect it to a UAD account I should be able to use plugins forever basically?

So I would download UAD software and update it to latest version, plug in OCTO USB, don't update, don't sign in?

 

Yes, that is correct. But you must be careful - not to EVER hit 'Authorize" button.

Also yes, but make sure you install the EXACT software version the original owner had on this OCTO before selling it to you.

 

I don't think you can update anymore, but right now the UAD software is on version 10.2.3. Besides Luna, UADX and Apple Silicon M1 support, any 9.x version is as good today as it was two years ago. For the most part, a newer version means more plugins added to the collection. Since you cannot buy or add any other plugins than the ones you get from the previous owner, there's no need to upgrade.

Received UAD device and got it working, thanks guys. I installed the UA connect, UA Control panel. The latest versions. and just plugged the UAD device in. Seems to just be working

Yep, it's the abbreviation for Buy It Or Shut the Helll Up.

 

Do not worry about it unless you click on 'Authorize' button. It won't deauthorize by itself.
I've sold my previous Apollo and 2 PCIe cards with plugins on them 3 years ago and they're still working for current owners.
Just keep on using it as it is.

FYI, once I've checked there were about a dozen IP addresses UA hardware is communicating with and they are changing from time to time. No need to block in hosts file

Hey there, I too bought a used Apollo and it came with plugins from the previous owner. Some are very cool and kinda expensive. Does this mean that if I was to buy my own and try to activate them, I would lose the previous ones?
