With a laptop you're rather stuck.
A docking station might have a second, different USB controller (unlikely) or an expansion slot (even more unlikely with today's machines) but there are still other options:
    - Use a compatible USB to MIDI cable (the Roland UM-One works quite well) with the BCR 5-pin MIDI ports
    - Use a USB host to MIDI interface that connects to the BCR's USB port (not guaranteed to work, I'm not sure if the BCR is class compliant).

FYI, the BCR sells quite easily today and you might consider waiting for Behringer's BCR32 re-release of the unit:

    https://www.synthtopia.com/content/...-the-bcr32-with-built-in-zaquencer-sequencer/

Even the Zaquencer will be on board!

    @tnc Thanks for your response.
It seems that my laptop has no possibility to put a PCIe in.
It only has slots for two SSD´s and one HDD.
AN515-44 (AMD) / NVMe PCIe / NVMe PCIe or SATA
    Is there another way?

@fiction Thanks for the ideas. I quickly tried with an external sound card with midi interface, what seemed to work. I didn´t check for the issue of jumping back of the rotary buttons, like @Pinkman described.
I checked, and the BCR2000 is class compliant.
Soon as I can I will try the USB to midi cable option. Taking that sound card with me as extra gear I would rather avoid.

@Daskeladden, I saw you disagree here to this mentioned comment (#2).
Do you mean the "Windows description"?
@danfuerth describe Windows as a call center scam paradise OS.
In my opinion 100% right description, is that the point you disagree?
Can you tell me what is your point?
I'm just interested to get your opinion.

Both my BCR and BCF 2000 are working perfectly in Win10.

I will say this only a heavy ( and I mean heavy cut down, syspreped image of Windows 10 on a laptop actually goes full time online. 1 Desktop with Windows 10 for mostly video editing does not go online directly, it goes through a proxy running on my File Server with strict rules on connections ( no downloads are possible, browsing only)

All my 3 desktops have a caddie 3.5" port on the front and each System has some OS version on separate drives( some getting replaced as XP is now very old)

2 AMD Athlon Triple core Workstations were tossed down and given for free so all drives here were free ( except for SSD's )

1 Server Desktop ( Windows XP/ Windows 7 dual boot) using the 3.5" caddie with an 80 gb drive for the OS, with 8 HDD drives internally as storage as this is the file/ftp/proxy server.

    2. Desktop ( Graphics/video/audio/ recording videos to youtube/ some games here as well)
SSD Windows 7 + storage 2 tb HDD drive

    3. Intel I7 system ( mostly for video editing) refurbished system( my first computer purchase in 15 years lmao)
Windows 7/ Windows 10 on separate SSD drives ( with the caddie swap)
Internet access restricted to proxy running on the file server for the Windows 10 SSD

Some external hardware paid by me but all my ethernet cables, power bars, power adapters, usb cables, KVM switch boxes, HDD drives, PCIe, PCi cards, Some video cards all from factories tossing older stuff out, I get first dibs ;o)

I used to have access to the city dump here where we would go in a night into the computer bins, take out all the towers, bring them home, strip them down and toss back the now empty PC towers. Still have some old 90's PCI modems 56 k modems here. For a while I was beating the Chinese at their recycling scam game.

@Vader For exactly that reason Pinkman kept on searching to finally conclude that the problem is the USB host on the motherboard and not Win10, as far as I understood. What means that If I would install win7, my BCR2000 will still not work.
@danfuerth and @audiozuser76 Maybe you have this off-topic discussion somewhere else?

Yes, windows 10 is a bitch to set up and trim down the fat..
But when you do, and keep the machine offline, its great, same greatness as win 7.

Sorry OP i cant help with your BCF2000, but i read online its plug & play with win 10..
I dont understand what you ref when you say you're using mackie control surface? daisy-chaining in the BCF2000? sounds like it wouldn't work to me.

Yeah, so USB controllers on some newer motherboards have a hard time recognizing some older USB 2.0 devices. It is kind of a specific issue depending on the combination of motherboard and device.

@Illadelph I'm using the Mackie Control emulation mode with the BCF2000. It auto assigns and lets you page through channels, pan, mute and solo controls in your set. In all the other modes, including the native B-Control, you have to assign MIDI CCs and channels to the hardware controls and map them in your DAW. With Mackie mode, I can page through channels and the (motorized) faders, encoder and buttons reflect the changes on the screen without having to assign and map each control.

How great is this? I almost bought one just as they were being discontinued, then I decided that the seller wanted too much for it. I've regretted not buying it ever since. And I was buying it primarily to use as the Zaquencer, so I'm really happy that the software will come with the unit.

I had similar USB issues with a Access Virus TI Snow, and ended up selling it because it was more trouble than it was worth. I prefer the in the box workflow anyhow. kudos to the OP for getting it working.

@Otic You could try using a USB 2.0 hub with the USB 3 port on the laptop. It didn't work for me and I tried two different hubs but you never know.
That BCR32 looks pretty cool. I love the BCR2000. So awesome for custom controls. Just get lots of sticker labels, assign parameters and make it your own.

@Pinkman I tried one without success, but should maybe try again with a self powered USB2 hub.
In stand alone mode I could manage to make the Bcr2000 work perfectly with an external sound card with midi.
That´s in fact already very good news, but doesn´t mean I will skip the USB to MIDI cable option.
And hopefully, better sooner than later, we can enjoy that BCR32. Thanks for your help.
