Whew. What a total nightmare for a non-IT and having-never-even-opened-a-PC guy.

The whole Windows thing nearly did my head in (how do PC people cope?) BUT I now have a Mac Pro running Logic Pro with VEP as a master and a MacBook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels and a slave instance of VEP7 all hooked together by a single ethernet cable and it actually fucking works! Almost no latency and thanks to the hard work of others total access to Softube goodness.

So, as a Windows newb, what have I been missing? Name your favourite Windows plugs so that I may partake in this brave new world.

Why post asking about Windows plugins you should use in the Mac forum? :dunno:

Yeah you're bragging how you managed to link up your mac and a Windows machine to do audio production then asking for Windows plugin recommendations in a Mac forum. Did I miss something?

The whole Mac/Parallels/link stuff is completely irrelevant to the actual question in your post which is purely asking about Windows plugins.

Guys, it seems that there is a confusion here.
Op, being a Mac user, managed to link windows to his Mac.
Now he wants to know which would be the important windows plugins he should try first.

I see no contradiction in this thread, also it could be useful for other members to explain how he managed to link windows to Mac and use these plugins.

On the other hand, I would say that the list of win plugin would be too long...

It's kind of standard, Oly. Such a simple task.
And already dealt with in other posts.
This is just a "tell me which plugins to get from the wave" post.

    Whoops.

    Sorry.

This thread doesn't appear to be going as planned.

    ....next.

    What?
Your question is that you want to know what plugins to try out, yeah?
Be patient and I'm sure it will happen!

If you wanted to tell us all about Parallels, I'm sure you would have made a post about that.
Yet seeing as the rules say to do a search first to check that you aren't making a duplicate post, you possibly would not have made that post.
I haven't checked actual post titles, but this has been covered so many times here already.
The only reason I use Parallels is because I read about it here!
I don't know what you are saying whoops and sorry and next for, unless it's to passive-agressively troll me. And I don't know why, seeing as nobody has answered your question yet, that you say it's not going as planned.
Was it "planned" that we would go crazy over a mac and windows set-up?
I doubt you planned that, although it's obvious that you are happy about it, which is cool to hear! And I know how you feel!

I hope you get some good answers yet.

    Thanks.

Im uncertain as to why a simple thread would generate this kind of hostility, but let me apologise for posting something so apparently redundant.

    Thus, whoops.

    Sorry.

Plugins in VEP in Windows in Parallels..., you need a lot of extra ram. That's not smart. Why not using bootcamp instead and run Windows stuff in it?

    Where? Seriously. :dunno:
What? You asked a question about what plugins.
Now it sounds like you are doing 'poor-me' towards me as well as the passive-aggressive techniques. And stop apologising for nothing! haha.
Surely the lack of emoticons in my few sentences of logic isn't unnerving you?
I'm honestly sorry if I've offended you by just talking logic.
Please don't tag me into the convo again, unless it's something positive and not overly apologetic for having done nothing wrong. Thank you.

Maybe we have a lot of ram? :winker:
I preferred Parallels over bootcamp, but I am intrigued now to test your statement, thanks.
I don't agree that it's "not smart", btw.
But totally possible that the member may get an even better result the other way around, as you say.

That is probably good advice. As I mentioned earlier, Im an IT idiot. Took me a week to figure out how to get VEP to "see" the slave.

    Cheers

I was supposing that OP uses the Logic Pro on the Mac Pro, so his slave computer (MBP) doesn't need to have MacOS running during the time of doing music stuff on it. That's why the most straightforward option is using Windows via Bootcamp.
If he wanted to run Windows plugins in Parallels on the master mac computer, that would make sense, however the performance issue is still the question.
I've got Parallels on my mac to run during MacOS running, and I also tried the Windows version of VEP in it as slave, it worked but my old mac with 8GB ram was not a good test-bed to say anything performance-wise.

Yeah jazzzz, re. your last sentence, on the same machine the ram allocation between the source os and the os running in the VM/Parallels is not really going to go smoothly with just 8GB in this present day with all our hungry plugs.
macOS alone would probably need at least half of that for itself and so that it can run the VM, and then there isn't much left for the VM itself.
I remember is was nicer with 16GB.

The op asks for plugin recommendations...

all the recent stuff from Plugin Alliance and almost all iLok protected plugins from past years

on a side note, out of curiosity, are you using free VEP7 (= saving disabled) or did you buy a license? - if the 2nd case, I'd wonder if eLicenser works through Parallels or not
