I should also mention Nembrini Audio's amp sims are top quality as well. If I were to rank it in quality with the others mentioned above, it would be right after Neural DSP. My personal overall in terms of amp rendition AND feel are:

    Neural DSP
    Mercuriall
    Nembrini Audio
    SKnote
Kuassa (specifically Clarent, Matchlock & Caliburn)
    STL Amphub
    TH-U
    Helix
PA (rockergain100, Savage 120, Diezel, Ampeg, Chandler, Friedman)
Audiority or Softube (both are good, more so Audiority)

Seeing a lot of Neural DSP topping the rank, I guess, now is the time I give em (and Nembrini as well, excited for the bandmaster) a try. BTW, love the 1959 SLP by Softube. Surprised to see it doesn't get the attention (I think) it deserves, well maybe time's changed.

It gets little love because the IRs aren't that great. Switch them out and it sings! Mercuriall's Spark still beats it though IMO.

On a separte note, here's one cool tip that I've used for years:
    • Put an instance of Softube's Acoustic Feedback in front of your amp sim of choice when doing solos. Thank me later :guru:

You can create your own standalone version using Tone2's Nanohost (free): https://www.tone2.com/nanohost.html

I haven't tested it since I still have the legit versions installed, but it should work.

Honestly, I didn't like the Softube amps at all. Super bright and static. Uninstalled.

    My current favorites are:

    1-Neural DSP
    2-Mercuriall
    3-Kuassa 360
    4-Helix

I finally got to know a bit on softube stuff, the sound is very realistic. Likely too realistic for most if they're into a modern genre, mixing them might need time/experience. On the other hand neural stuff (specially presets) are very record-ready so the popularity is understandable.

As I mentioned in a previous post, use external IRs for Softube stuff. The included ones aren't that great, but the amp simulation itself is good. Also, keep in mind JMPs and Plexis ARE indeed bright amps. Infact, Nameless from Neural DSP is based on a Plexi and is also a very bright amp.

Best loader imo is actually Kazrog's Recabinet. The dynamics knob adds some movement to the static IRs. If you don't have it, you can get a similar effect using something like this:

Yeah on my first try I thought that too, was annoying. Then messed with the mic.s and it started to get much better.

Actually since you already uninstalled, download one of the amps released today as they only 15-20mb. They open outside the amp-room software too and much easier to manage the cab. section.

    Sure, good idea.
I'm gonna give it another try and report back.

You can get the older versions on the sister site. I enjoyed them so much that I bought them all. Euphoria is top notch! I just wish the older plugins will get that interface in some future update. They're also having a sale right now too.

You can use SAVIHost by Hermann Sieb. It supports VST3 as well.

Now that Mammoth is out too, it'd be interesting to see it stack up against Neural's Parallax.

They are different. The tones they cover are comparable and not comparable if you get what I mean. Mammoth has 3 different distortion types, Parallax has one. Parallax is more modern sounding, where as Mammoth can give you vintage to modern tones.

Neither is better or worse and it really just depends on the tone you're going for.
