I never have issues, windows 10 pro, I think I am on one of the latest updates. I honestly do not understand why people claim to have problems.

Take a look at all unnecessary processes that are being run.
And please do consider your privacy as well. Telemetry is not a good boy.

The thing with MS's customer's releases is that every once in a while (six months I believe), an update rolls out. This can break stuff.

The same thing can happen to an Enterprise release, but their updates are less frequent, cumulative-wise. Less new fancy features that have just been released with an update, screamint to your face 'we are sure you cannot wait to try this out'.

If you upgrade in an enterprise environment, it'd better be for security.

pro pretty much, just unnistall all those apps from microsoft store using PowerShell
    Remove all windows-store related programs:

Click with the right mouse button on the start menu
    Go to Windows Powershell (admin)

This one remove all programs from windows store including the Windows Store app
    Get-AppxPackage | Remove-AppxPackage

This one re-install only the windows store app:

    Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

if you use email from microsoft like I do you can just search it on the windows store (and the calculator too)

Disable all the services that you pc really dont need to be on all time (as Nvidia Geforce Experience services that are always on the background, some related to screen-recording)

    upload_2021-1-6_8-56-43.png

Disable all the initialization programs, that speed up the boot for real, and you dont really need these to start with you machine

This should do the job that installing alt versions of windows do

you can debloat every version easily with some distributed script, use gpo for final tweaks, music making doesn't need special os, just prepared one, and some bios tweaks. Don't use cool and quiet or cpu boost management, use a script to end all the services you don't need when you are working, and reboot when you've done, if you want to surf or use some non audio features , that 's it

hey friends, do you know this script? I use it every time I install Windows 10 it has good tweaks (based on power shell ,
remove telemetry, delete metro apps, among others)

I'm not saying it's the best, but I'm happy with the latest, 20H2, at the moment.

I just run O&O Shutup and then Sysinternals' Autoruns to get rid of any extra bloat.

    No issues since... can't remember.

    *edit:* Oh, and Enterprise.

Wow read this he thinks windows gives him security. Let me correct you, Windows is KING for the lack of security.
No one uses windows for security reasons.

I'd recommend Pro onwards as well, but the security features are pretty much the same all across the versions. You do get more control over say, Group Policy, but for single-user systems they are not security enhancements.

I need some HELP, pls. Still in phase of testing on an old machine I ran out of activations. What poison is in nowadays?

I downloaded Windows 10 X64 Pro for Workstations Version 20H2 Build 19042.685, about 2 weeks ago, when I heard about it being the best at keeping Microshit spying out of our computers. I haven't installed it yet, I'm waiting till everything is back to normal, then I will be looking for a better PC than what I am presently using.

Windows 10 X64 Pro for Workstations Version 20H2 Build 19042.685 is very recommended that is how I found out about it, search for it and you'll find it, then use it offline and you'll probably never have any problems. My PC for music never goes online, I install whatever programs I require from USB Flashdrives, but I scan the programs first and then double check them at virustotal.com before I install anything on it. I don't need security patches from MS if its never online, use an older PC for net use and downloading.

Hey WillyA We old foggies all seem to hate dark, overly bright or stupid color schemes like dark red or blue text on a black background. I hate 10 but will install the highly recommended "Windows 10 Pro for Workstations" which I have already downloaded and am getting info how to strip it down and mod it for music use, when I get a better PC I'll install it and it will never go online like my present music PC, I never get problems this way using an older PC for net & downloading. All the best in the new year.

As you can see below, I had installed latest 20H2 (19042.685) Pro, but now I've installed Win10 for Workstations, also 20H2 (19042.685).
About your question: Not sure if I understood correct, but if I do.. I use KMS38. This is only for my Music-PC which will (usually) not go online.

I use the same OS as you mentioned since some days. No problems so far and It's also (mostly) an offline Music-PC.
But I wonder if this Win for Workstations gives me any benefit over Win10 Pro, since I've read you have to have a very powerfull machine with special RAM and also ReFS (Resilient File System)

Heard of Foster's and of.. hmmm.. can't remember well.. ;-)

As I've mentioned above: I'm running now Windows10 for Workstations. So far all good. Softube is showing up, I've probably shut down the needed services before..
With my latets OS I didn't use the AME script and didn't make any services changes. I only used the MSMG Toolkit to make my own ISO.

I'll probably try the next LTSC version when it will be released.

    I disabled all unnecessary processes.
I block all other data transfer, also with MS.
I work offline 98% and keep the system up to date every so often.
I have never ever had MS break my DAW stuff. Never. The things I see that people have with MACs I have never ever had.
I actually went smoothly from XP 32bit, to Win7 32, to 64bit, to Win10 64 bit. All on the same computer.
Never any issues. Of course I make sure things are compatible before upgrading/updating.

Still have that pc? If so it must be pretty crappy and old. I mean XP 32bit is almost 20 years old. By the way running Windows 10 smoothly on a pc nearly 20 years old? Yeah right....

is not trendy anymore (i can't find the post tho). I was around on My Digit al Lfe site, but not lately.. don't want to catch somethin nasty. I think MDL is legit :dunno: .. at least it was..
