Hi, I have lost the "authorizations" of most of VST plugins and Ableton Live 10 after updating my system Windows 10 ver1909 up to 20H2. The plugins I load are in trial mode and require authorization as if they were just installed. I have to use keygens etc, again. I haven't scanned the system with any antivirus software. I have a copy of my system disk done before updating the system. I tried to copy the whole folder including my VST plugins but it didn't help. Should I copy more folders from Documents and AppData or some the Registry entries? It is a headache! Any solutions?

Windows update is a lottery, never update a working system if it's not necessary :guru:

Why people must always update windows (or other OS)?
I was never understand this obsessional neurosis.
Since over 2 years I blocked all updates, my system works flawless.
What is that for modern sickness to be always "up to date"?

I downloaded a tool to block updates. Worked for about a year then it just stopped working. What do you use?

I think the easiest way is to simply postpone it for 35 days

When you say 'I have a copy of my system disk done before updating the system', is it in fact just a copy of the system files in another folder or did you actually made a backup of your system disk that you can use to restore your disk in the state it was before the update? If you have a copy of the system files in a backup folder, it won't help to copy those files back on your system disk. Can you do a system restore prior to the update?

My suggestion is to use Search and find THE W10 thread that Gyro and Xupito were involved in.
All answers, ways, and tips to be found there.

Is a bootable copy what you refer to, rather than just a copy?

Yes he needs a valid backup of his boot disk/drive with the system on it. (like a disk image)
If he doesn't have such backup, he can try to system restore. If this is still not possible then a reinstall of the operating will be the last option.

I don't know, perhaps the desire to acquire new features, close security holes and fix bugs. As soon as an update is deemed stable you should install it. Don't encourage bad habits. A lot of malware coders are counting on your negligence, don't make it easy for them.

The story is: I migrated the system disk to a bigger one and then updated Windows in a new disk. So I have got the old working system disk. The migrated system worked good. The updating corrupted my setup. So I can migrate the system again and not to update it.

@nmkeraj I'd suggest finding a thread that I think was called 'THE Windows 10 Thread' or something.
Gyro and Xupito are two with all the knowledge of how to get rid of the bloatware and remain safe.

lol im always holding off updates... until they fix or introduce a UI change for the better.
im a bitch for improved GUI and i cant hold myself back from updating (not immediately but like 3 months later lol)

anyway for the OP - just re-install the plugins (uninstall+re-install) if the crack doesnt have a keygen, if it does - try to use the keygen again.
but the safest bet is to re-install.

i had the same thing happened to be a while ago on a few plugins when i updated to 1909 and re-install fixed it all

    @nmkeraj I assume you didn't make a fresh install?
I know it's not as it was back in the days, but I always love to do a fresh install of Windows.
Well, it feels liberating :) but it's also time consuming.. and might stop you to make a number one hit..

    What I learned from Gyro:
You could use the Oprekin version of Windows 10. Oprekin provides various stripped Windows install ISO's for free.
Also has a payed subscription service for updates and private builds: https://oprekin.com

If you don't want to do a clean install, you could use W10Privacy, a free tool that strips Windows from hundreds of services, bloatware & call-homes: https://www.w10privacy.de/english-home/
I have an Oprekin build and put W10 on top. Works fine..
