You always slap a De-esser on your master bus?

You can use the Weiss Deess as a dynamic EQ too. It's not limited to sibilants.

I don't use a template for my master bus, but rather listen closely to figure out what the track(s) need and add stuff based on that. I think I'd be too tempted to work with every single insert on the bus if I made everything so readily available to myself. I don't like to have things in my projects that do not have a purpose. When I do add stuff, however, it's generally pretty straightforward and very subtle.

    I usually have these.
    A compressor.
    Mid/side eq.
    Stereo widener.
    Tape emulator.
    Harmonic distortion.
    Limiters.

And always these two plugins last in my chain.
    Metric AB.
    Voxengo Span.

Softube DS1-MK3 are good for finished controlled sound.

Recently - nothing on the mix bus except for a limiter for reference prints. Pushes me to get it right while actually mixing. Sometimes some bus compression. Usually no widening - use reverbs, delays, eq to achieve that on individual tracks. Sometimes I feel like too much stuff on the 2bus can be a crutch.

Definitely. IMHO everything you can do on channel/group level, don't do it on mix bus.

I use a deesser on some cymbals sometimes, but never on busses and even less on the master...But why not if it sounds good.
