    Same here: FL to do some composition and experimentation and then off to Cubase. Sometimes I also build from the ground up there because I love being able to freeze tracks especially with my ancient computer.

    I can totally relate to where you're coming from, I often have the same anxieties myself particularly because I'm a perfectionist and I have a vision for what I want but somehow it seems to get lost in translation. Often I'm working in genres that don't exactly have tutorials or books or pretty much anything and that's why I'm trying to start something up here as a repository of knowledge for those that might one day find it helpful.

    And on that sidenote if you're on a PC then allow me to ease your mind:

    And here, you're going to need this registry key: http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/1nnpkx One thing to keep in mind though is that you can't turn this on and off unless you manually remove the key from the registry which if you don't know how to do I could always help you with. Have a great weekend.

    Awesome man I'm really glad it'll get you back to a production environment that you like better, I know it can be frustrating when your favorite features suddenly disappear. You really don't even need the video, all I would do is download the key to your desktop, run it and then when you open FL Studio go to Settings>General and enable the legacy precomputed effects option. And it was no problem, glad to do it. :hug: :mates:

    Oh and I just remembered something else: if you go to File>New from template>Other there will be a template called Blocks. This isn't the exact same thing as the pattern blocks because it uses the Playlist but it's the same idea. It was created as a proof of concept to show that the Playlist is actually better because you can do things there that you can't do with blocks while still allowing people to use an environment that they're more familiar with. Try this out first to see if you can work like that because then you don't have to go through the hassle of downloading keys, running them and then enabling settings. And this way it's not a permanent change to your installation.

    I've also tried this option. It's very nice indeed, but I'm a block man, what else can I say? :)

    if you are working on music which needs low end as electronica, rap, rock, pop etc… ( in fact loads of genre ;-) 8" woofer is the minimum to get precise low without a sub woofer added.
    If you're working on a tiny space-work, try to not put your speakers too close of wall. At least around 1m needs to have less wall reflection, but in same time this 1m gives enough to the bass energy to be developed at his strong perception. ( try one time to test it: bass amp or speacker > listen it close of the woofer and one meter far = Close > not really bass/sub . Then from 1, meter you are clearly listening & feeling bass+sub etc …)
    But with a bass trap system you can minimize it perfectly .

    cheers

    Thanks every one for the answers, and sorry for not coming here sooner but I have been working on a video for adidas.

    I'm going to start working by exporting the midi to audio and then start mixing just like bud said before in this topic.
    But I have a question, wich format should I export? I'm doing it in .wav but I don't know what frame rate I should do it, 44.100Khz 48? 96? and what bit depth 24 or 32? I don't know what the best settings for quality/size of the file, I just exported my kick in 96khz 32 bit depth and it has 54,7 Mb, and with all the track I might end up with a Gb.

    @davea
    Hi there glad to see you in this topic. I bought the 8' for that same reason that you said, I work with rap, RnB, pop, etc, but my issue is that I change to another house and now my "home studio" is in a small room like 3m by 3m (10ft by 10ft) So if I put my monitors 1m away from the wall I will end up sitting almost on the other wall.

    I'm trying to work on my first mix so I can put it up here and get some advices from this nice people eheh

    24bit 44100 should be perfectly fine for anything you need to do. If you're going to export in 16 bit, check your original files, if they are in 16 bit as well then you're good to go, if they're not then you need to use dithering.

    In general, 24 bit 44100 for mixing and mastering. Then you can use dithering and export everything to 16 bit if you need to, then you won't have ridiculous file sizes.

    I like rendering out to 2bit at 98k sample rate... the quality is outstanding!!! It's like when you hear the sound of 10 lawn mowers outside in spring time at 8am. Totally what you want. *yes*
