That kind of music not my cup of tea but it's a catchy tune. The vocals aren't 100% on point, sometimes out of tune and sound a bit harsh but nothing that can't be fixed in post. And the whole thing lacks groove, sounds a bit robotic, should be humanized. It's s still a way to go but it'S wort the effort imho.

I like the song a lot, but to me, the vocals are over-processed and too quiet in the mix. Also, the lyrics are cliche. Maybe explain how tonight is different compared to other nights?

There is too much going on to tell you anything.

Make it sound good before you try to make it loud. Low end is out of control, Vocals are up and down.

Who knows what is causing it, there are too many variables involved. There is distortion and resonance here and there but what is causing it. Mystery, too many possibilities.

You built a house put up the plaster and the paint and now you are asking others if the foundation is solid.

    Who knows.

Thanks. Will try to strip the effects that might contribute to your points (although they are only and on a very few tracks of the song) and post a more naked version when I have time to do so. Will also re-check the volume-levels.
I posted this in "Work in process", and this is just the initial export, so bare with this junk-version ..

Thanks! I know what you mean. It's library-vocals (can't afford to hire a real singer) and thus I can't chose the lyrics, so my choices are limited.

Thanks! Curious about the groove point, any suggestions how to achieve?

For one, do NOT use any 'Humanize' function in your daw.
I will listen to the track and get back to you, because "groove" as mentioned by Gwydian may be a subjective thing, whereas groove with drum sequencing is a technique in itself.
From his comment, it sounds like you have just over qauntized, and/or not allowed certain aspects to be slightly late, or early, in context with other drum hits, which creates groove.

    edit: Just listened. Well done!
Totally disagree with the "groove" statement! It's fine. Although there are some nice things you could now do if you want the drums to pop a little more.
Vocals need some stereo info/fx and to be more upfront.
The low end seems very stereo on cans, you could mono some of that info imo.
Other than that, a nice surprise, considering that the others made out it would sound bad!

I wonder if the vocal sample pack was actually out of tune as Gwydian said.
    Didin't catch that myself.

    Nice one.

    Cool.

When you are done, try to give us the version you like before "mastering" as if you have a good solid mix printed before post you can separate the concerns a little.

At which point you can squash it to your hearts content and know that problems are in post and not baked into track itself.

    :)

the low frequencies are out of control man.... try to balance the level instead of compress. after that, try ducking using the lfo tool or similar

    Thanks!

Feeling like I am inappropriate dressed for the entrance of a golf course (hate golf, but a metaphor) - just wanted an opionion if the song is OK to go further with - Sorry if I didn't make that clear. Seems that many here are making a living from mixing and mastering all the way to the final sound of a release, and all the terms and layers involved with that. I'm just making song ideas without the ambition to get the mix or master 100%-right, there are plenty of competent sound-engineers that make that for a living all the time that I can involve.
Just want to know if the song itself is OK (except the monotone vocals, from a song library).

I like the song idea. I think it needs builds or transition sounds white noise etc, to take it into the diff sections sometimes it can be too abrupt. If it was me I would add a Avicii synth lead that follows the vocal melody somewhere even once, some saws, or some other sounds. It just sounds too flat to me the hole way through not much is changing adding interest.

Not my genre but sounds just like the stuff they play at the gym and it wouldnt sound out of place with maybe a riser and a bit of a release, dropping out a few instruments and back in or repeating a few things for catchiness with some drum fills. I would probably skip the guitar at the intro as it sounds like its not going to be a electronic number, I'd go straight in with the beat and guitar.

You've made some progress, so good job. It's still a little too crispy.

There are small clicks probably coming from somewhere probably the vocal track - make sure to fade in new clips so that processors can react in a predictable manner.

Needs some frequency balancing this is probably a room or equipment issue if you cold hear it you probably would have fixed it.

Moving in the right direction for a fun mix, I think you've achieved what you set out to do as long as you had fun.

    Cheers man.

Again, another okay, nearly there, mix.
From my 30+ years experience, I would kindly suggest that you are too close to the track at the moment and need to take a rest, as you said.
Because you could be more focused on the sound you are trying to get at, when you come back to it.
That snare seems way too depthy for this last mix. The kick needs more definition.
It's either that the mid range of the instrumentation is too full, or conversely that the low end isn't defined enough.
You'd have to make a decision.
With all its faults, the first mix had more going for it as a starting point, imo.
I like the guitar intro, I don't agree with the other member's opinion.
Maybe even add some twinkly stuff and atmos to it as we're approaching the beat?
Apart from the vocal level in the first mix, all this sounds in the right ballpark though, and you're doing very well.

Btw, what is your current acoustic surrounding when you are creating, if you don't mind me asking?

I suggest sweeping for resonance around 700 - 3K & suppressing those frequencies & do some ducking on the lead vox reverb.
It's a nice track. I really like it.
