R2R have shown that iLok 3 is their bitch and all other "strong" protections.
All that is left is for PACE's retaliation

Probably after they've figured out what hoop Apple wants them to jump through... I hate both companies Apple & Pace. I know R2R has been coming in strong for Windows the past 2 days. But I would love to see them wreck that cuck Tim Cook & Pace..

I think there is a point in releasing iLok 4... for us to watch R2R break it again, it was just glorious.

 

All of the DRM companies pour so much money into protection development and all they do is make the program run worse. R2R said around 80+% of one of the plugin's file size was all DRM data and only around 20% was the actual plugin. Waste of hard drive space!

They probably spend more development time on the protection than making actual quality software.

Even worse, programs like reFX NEXUS and UVI Falcon do not even offer Demo yet they want to use the strongest protections.

iLok 4 will be released somewhen after this Big Wave and before the next "iLok 4 crack" big wave.... And before iLok 5.... Anyway you will get this Nexus 4 later)

 

After watching what has just happened in 2 days, all companies must be ringing phone calls to PACE for refunds..
I doubt if they will believe in ilok anymore.

 

Companies like Fabfilter and Klanghelm are already understanding it. They are spending time on making and improving software than spending more time on protections, which will come with an additional addition that it will actually help to increase their profitability in the long term. I mean who wants to buy products that comes with additional useless dongles, software or other stuff like this?

It's already proved so many times. Spending time and efforts on protections are useless as fuck. You're wasting time and money for nothing, while you can use all this time and money on making better and improving software.

That's why companies like Fabfilter are already miles ahead compared to competitors. My money will go into these kind of companies first for sure when I can afford it. Even a director from Fabfilter said it by himself on a Fabfilter forum that spending time on protections is worthless, because it will be cracked in the long term anyway. And what do you get? Yes, better products.

I hate it when companies are putting out so much worthless code as protection into their plugins. It will definitely not help to make your plugins be better and such a waste of cpu usage aswell.

And this is all about. They should stop to develop protection only and focus on plugin itself. Serial number is good enough and if plugin is good - people will pay for it.

 

I'd think that the protection worked: Some or most of these plugins were not cracked or publicly released for a long time, which I suppose is the best that developers can expect nowadays. It's the same as with game protections like Denuvo, if you manage to avoid the crack for the week of release you've done pretty well. Considering this I think that something like Soothe had a fantastic run. So I suppose they will continue with new implementations of iLok for sure.

 

Agree. Also, look at Sonnox. I forgot when was the last time they were cracked.

 

I'm not expected that those companies will drop out ilok,but if they enough wise, they will remove lots of garbage code.
They are not working for professional crackers.

R2R said they only took 30 minutes with Soothe's protection. Why the release was kept internal who knows? Probably just some mercy from R2R? Since oeksound is a new company? But ultimately this means R2R could have released Soothe long time ago maybe even around the time the plugin officially came out. If they were supplied it.

But why would they show mercy to reFX then? Who many have been scammed by. Who do not offer any demos. Who have not been cracked in 10+ years. Who sell complete plugin for €1999. I am sure reFX have not been cracked for the longest compared to any other developers. Why is this.

i do not mean that these plugins are worse in quality. there should be a pause after i said even worse. i have edited it. but how could i compare an effect (oeksound soothe) to virtual instruments (NEXUS3, Falcon) anyway?

If I understand their nfo correctly, R2R was referring to one of the three security layers of Soothe2, which was not the hardest. The hardest might have taken them much longer to crack, after which it took them 30 minutes to crack the specific thing that Oeksound did with their implementation of iLok. But I don't know.
As for REFX, as far as I am aware there are reasons but I think you might find some better info somewhere else.

 

u-he is amazing example imho. Just simple key-password routine with some smart timebombs; and this works better then strongest available protections like ilok+metafortress. No protector bloat-code in executables, nor cloud-related protection mechanisms.
