My fellow swede Ludwig Göransson nailed it. He just keeps on crushing it. Same with Mandalorian (season 1 and 2) and Black Panther, Venom, etc before that.

    Sound is very good.
Film is overhyped. Boring and incomprehensible. Wants to make the audience think they are stupid when all you have is 2 hours of cyphers, insubstantial characters, exotic locations for no reason, an appalling soundmix and illegible dialog (purposefully so, nice one). A gimmick which itself becomes tiresome about midway through. As is the way with C. Nolan recent movies. ( Interstellar is a terrible movie)... did I mention, it's really, REALLY long.

Basically the composer had no idea what to do so he recorded an omnisphere loop, played with the mod wheel and sent it trough some distortion.

Loved the soundtrack as well. The dialogues get muffled sometimes, though.

The script itself is a mess, IMHO.

im going to watch it, im afraid it will be yet a sterile piece though, like most stuff being spitted out from the dying machine these years, but ill give it a try, and the soundtrack. to judge from this audioclip ...ehh... its yet another laughable generic "vista" i could probably expect from the arp in any key of a cheap vst.

Is the bar and are expectations really that low nowadays?

I can definitely hear some Zimmer vibes despite the composer is different, great work regardless,
if you watch the movie again, you may realize in reverse scenes the music goes backward, kinda neat trick to make it sound unique

Thanks for the info, I was not that interested as the genre is a bit trite but if the music is worth it I will rent this over the weekend.

    The stage, man
I dig the music (Goransson is a genius), and the movie itself was worth watching, but I have a serious fucking problem with Nolan. First, he whined, kicked and screamed until Warner Brothers released his movie theatrically in the middle of a deadly pandemic. Unsurprisingly, of the few people who braved getting sick to watch it in a theater, most were enterprising video pirates with iPhone 11s smelling a quick buck, making TENET one of the most pirated movies of all time. WB lost a ton of cash domestically on the film, which led to them deciding to institute their controversial new policy of releasing all their 2021 theatrical movies simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. You can still see them in a theater, but Warner Brothers will likely make lots more money from HBO Max subscriptions, at least until the pandemic ceases to be a thing. Makes sense. Naturally, Christopher Nolan did what he apparently does best: whined, kicked and screamed about how awful HBO Max is and how this will destroy cinema once and for all, garnering lots and lots of negative press for Warner Bros. and riling up his fellow WB filmmakers, even though WB immediately shoveled out shit-tons of money to them as a show of good faith and assured them that this was only going to last until the pandemic is over. As it stands right now, you can't watch any of Christopher Nolan's movies on HBO Max ... not even his BATMAN movies. I'm not clear if this is because WB is symbolically cutting ties with Nolan (and losing a vital revenue stream, especially considering that this will probably include TENET), or, more likely, that they're once again caving in to Nolan's demands and removing all his content from their service. I've looked everywhere to see if there was any news articles about this removal, and no one on either side has said a thing.

The worst part? WB's decision to release all their 2021 theatrical films simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters didn't affect Nolan in any way, shape or form. His precious movie was one of the select few to get a full theatrical release in a prime slot (Labor Day weekend!) without any compromises ... unless you count all the safety measures that had to be put in place so that no one died as a direct result of seeing his masterpiece on the big screen as a "compromise".

I loved the soundtrack too but I have a bias towards arps and bass and frenetic beats. Göransson's work with Childish Gambino is top class. Same with Community and Atlanta. I would love to hang out Ludwig Göransson and Donald Glover. That would be some special sh!t.

The film itself seemed more like a tech demo or some kind of visual experiment/exercise. By that I mean it's technically and visually impressive but I really had no care or interest in the characters narratives besides the one general "wtf is going on ?" Having people move forwards in time alongside people moving backwards in time and have it look so good is impressive but I think the overall story was just clinical and sterile.

@tzzsmk I heard Zimmer too in there. Also, some of the scenes look like people moving normally but if you pay attention, you can tell actors were actually moving backwards and then they played the recorded material in reverse. It was uncanny but cool and I truly appreciate that kind of experimental thinking.

You can also tell Nolan's had this idea and it's been stewing since Memento. The first scene of that was completely in reverse and that idea has been in his brain till he made Tenet. I think anyways.

The main problem with this kind of scenario is when you're watching the movie in a theater: the questions which your neighbor to the left is asking you prevent you from hearing the answers to the questions you've asked at your neighbor to the right.
    And vice versa.

Actually it's his brother Jonathan, idea. Since, Christophers obsession with "time". In comparison with memento, tenet is... Not.

@dtmd I get what you're saying about Jonathan's story being the idea but you can tell from his films that Christopher storyboards his work beforehand and the visual aspect is what I was talking about. It's like that one festering idea that you know you have to do something with, even if it takes decades to finalize.

I didn't either it put me to sleep, second attempt at watching it did likewise, anyone with a hard time sleeping put this movie on and you'll be asleep within 15-20 minutes. Is it possible there's a subliminal go to sleep message in it? I watched a 2017 Russian Scifi movie called Guardians this was extremely well made and kept me awake, this movie should have been dubbed into English. Stan Lee would have loved this movie fits right in with his films.
