    I cannot tell you much about the new Arturia version, since I avoid their new plugins, except that the old one sounded truly shitty. but I made a comparison with Roland Jupiter-8, and I personally like TAL's J-8 more. Roland one sounds a bit colder to me, and it's a 1:1 recreation feature-wise, whilst J-8 has additional features and it can be tweaked in various ways. I really like it.

    I think an interesting comparison would be with Diva running Roland modules, maybe?

    Juno and Jupiter synths are based on the same hardware, it's just that Jupiter was top of the line, with more features, like sync, cross-modulation, and much more hands-on modulation capabilities. My Jupiter-4 had just a bit less features than Jupiter-6 or 8.

    oh, and how they reached. did you pledge allegiance to diva or smth, why can't let go? ok , keep it, but don't flash it around, it's just not that shiny anymore.

    Arturia's new Emulations sound pretty great to me. I've owned the hardware. Pretty nice. Also I compared the (Juno) Tal vs the Arturia. Liked the Arturia version better. However, it was kinda close.

    "To each his own".

    Here's a comparison I made (cookie for who recognizes the riff :)). They're very close imo and differences you hear might as well have to do with slightly different settings than actual sound engine differences. Still, Arturia has the dispersion option (VCO variation) which the Tal doesn't, making the Arturia a bit more versatile and it's obviously noticeable in unison mode...but then there's the price difference...

    No unison used in the samples, just chorus.

    To know what is what:
    1 = Tal
    2 = Arturia

    I slightly overdid the VCO detune on the Tal, that's why it sounds a tad bit more analogue, but it's not an actual sound engine difference with the Arturia. So basically they are very much alike.

    Anyone who got Jan Hammer - Miami Vice -> cookie :winker:

    :like: Good sound matching. I prefer #1, sounds a bit more analogue. Can you put the answer in a spoiler?

    Well, that's an interesting case because the link itself takes you only to a request, so this could be allowed. :unsure:

    The TAL sounds to me better by plenty than the previous Arturia version, but I haven't tried their newer emulation or the Roland. I was able to play the Jupiter 8 when it came into production because a friend of a friend who became my friend bought one to record an album in '81. It was sooooo freaking great and I was very impressed by the sound and spent hours with it every day when I could. I had not yet ever played a synth and it set my mind racing trying to figure out how all thise sliders and buttons worked and what the hell they did. I finally figured it out yesterday :rofl:

    Absolutely, even if it doesn't seem to work or literally takes 'just a few hours'. IMHO the rule is a bit vague here.
    If he'd undo the link formatting, probably all would be good.

    I haven't looked at the spoiler on purpose before listening to both, and I liked 1 better.

    I wasn't very surprised when I looked at the spoiler, but they sound surprisingly alike, at least with this patch. I would like the comparison with more different patches, especially involving heavy filtering and cross-modulation. Those would show the difference better.

    Thank you for making the [blind] comparison, though. I find them most fun since your brain can play tricks on you so easily when a synth or FX has a Arturia/Waves/IK etc. GUI or Valhalla/Voxengo/Glitchmachines etc. GUI. That's why you should always try to ignore GUIs and give ears a chance to judge the sound better. :wink:

    How do I get my keyboard to stretch or should I say show the full keyboard across reaper at the bottom like yours does?
