Do you mean like one hardware synth with which you should be able to do everything? I choose my E-MU Emulator 4 XT then. It is a sampler, but it's hard to consider it only a sampler with all these synthesis capabilities. My A5000 is also incredible sampler-synth, and K2000 as well. This trio of synth-samplers is extremely powerful, but yes I could do everything with E4 alone.

Edit: or a monster Eurorack modular with a sampling module. :headbang:

It's the one I haven't bought yet but am currently lusting after.

It's definitely NOT a twenty year old sampler. Man, those things are terrible. Who has time for SCSI cables and Zip drives in 2020?

I had it for 8 years and i sold it last year. Because the CEO of that company decided to spend more of his time on golfing rather than releasing its successor.

    Korg Kronos.

Well this is an odd question, but I'd go with my trusty Korg Wavestation (EX).

If we are talking OLD synths - If I could get or afford a fully working original Synclavier or Kurzweil as they did everything.
In terms of a pure monophonic synth that does nothing else - a Mini-Moog or ARP 2600.
No point really because the older synths other than the newer Mini-Moogs have zero support and getting parts might be impossible, let alone schematic diagrams so anyone skilled could repair them.
I still have an original Korg M1. The only thing I've had to do is replace the battery.
    I still prefer analog synths.

I've always wanted a Doepfer modular rack. Not that I'd be experienced with it but I'd be willing to learn.

For me it's a toss up between the Wavestation or Wavestate.

I've not had my dirty hands on a Wavestate, but given the comparison here I'm more than keen to give it a go!

One of the latest Korg or Roland workstations. Sampler + Sequencer + Onboard Sounds. I'm set.

I still find hidden depths in my Kurzweil K2500, It is my go-to for sketching ideas, and the key bed suits my style.

Wavestate or Kurzweil Forte for me. Both deep enough to spend a lifetime with them.
