Wow, an interesting Foster post? I knew I was gonna be sick this weekend but not hallucinating...

Don't worry friends. Or don't celebrate bastards. Not the cobitch nor anything serious. I just watched "Tenet" so, you know, leaves you messed up a couple days

At least I was warned, so I knew what I was getting into. But still some things... is the sound mixer a sadist? Holy moly people that went to theaters should charge him for crimes against humanity's ears.

I had enabled the Dynamic Range Compressor and even so I'm shocked my neighbor didn't complain since I watched it at night.
Damn, I'm going to check on him later just in case he had a heart attack and died...

Or perhaps they recorded with a 128bit floating point mic ADC and just wanted to show off...

Only once? A rookie alert!

Since I posted something, I'd like to tell @Catalyst that I'm very glad he started posting again, and I love your avatar man! It looks almost as great as mine :P [just taking a piss lol - for the less knowledgeable in English, you shouldn't take this literally, it's an expression :)]

Have you figured out that the actual name of the film is "Ten"? btw. I liked it. Messed up nicely indeed. Regarding sound, I had to put it through a compressor and EQ, too. Broad boost at 2.5kHz a couple of dBs and a bit of high shelving at 12kHz. Weird. Usually just a compressor at 1:10 around the threshold of normal speech would do it for these sadistically loud FX movies.

I trained my neighbours well... you have to tell them you're visiting a psychiatrist.

And? I don't understand. We can talk about anything, right?
Seems we're talking about films now.
I was responding to someone's non-humour, so why not comment and tag them instead?

Didn't know, but the "tenet" thing is one of the less messed up enigmas

I ended up watching with subtitles without trying to understand, not worth the hassle. I was rooting for the villain to kill the protagonist and the girl. But I liked the Mister Teen Vampire's character, that's a first. I only wanted for him to get their legs broken
    :lmao:
Pro tip indeed, been using it long time now. The problem is two neighbours ended up actually going to therapy, when it gets to that they stop being reasonable
PS. I'm joking, just in case

    :hahaha:

I recently read this: https://audiosex.pro/threads/i-am-100-sure-that-no-one-is-using-music-theory-properly.56235/ You know the nobody really understands music theory properly because they make pop, rock, jazz, electronic, etc. spiel. Musical elitism seems to have evolved since I was last here. :deep_facepalm:

I'll make a brief comment here because the thread is locked and I wasn't around for the conversation. I've put it in a Spoiler tag because this is the humor section and I don't want to derail the thread.

Reminds me of what's wrong with only being logical. The logical mind tends to fall in love with the fruits of its own creation and holds them above all else...even truth. Olymoon gave a brilliant answer and properly stated that he was being pedantic and got to the heart of what music is about. He said in a few sentences what I will say now in a few paragraphs but hopefully I can add something of value as well. Foster is the living embodiment of the importance of learning to get out of your own way. Not a judgement, I would be an example too.

Whose definition of great are we judging by anyway? Yours? Certainly not mine. Music is about catharsis and conveying emotion, experience and vision. Applying the same logic, you can't enjoy a book if it's not Nietzsche because all other writers don't truly understand what writing is about. A wise person would never let something simple get in the way of their enjoyment. If a song makes you feel something, who cares what genre it is or its inherent complexity? Whether the person understood music theory or not. Imagine a world where we had to wait for that perfect theory implementation to enjoy a song? This is a world that I don't want to live in, where all emotion is obliterated in favor of spectacle. After all, in actuality it is simplicity that touches the heart.
You should know that this is only your opinion and in no way represents any sort of truth. Who are you to say what it means to understand music? How do you know that you're not the one misunderstanding it? People made music for a very long time before theory was even created. It's only a guide of things that have worked in the past, it's not a jail of the way things must be. Some of the greatest songs, even whole genres, have been created by breaking all established rules and conventions. The ideal location for a human being is situated between chaos and order and you are a prisoner of excessive order my friend. You also equate those that appreciate other forms of music as illiterate which is a false correlation. We all resonate with certain things and they don't have to the same for all of us, variety is the spice of life. Life is also not just about the efficient use of resources, nor is it only about perfect implementations. Life is dirty, life is a journey. It's about wasting resources just as much as it's about trying to make more efficient use of them, dancing to songs made without theory while learning to appreciate more complex arrangements, making mistakes, righting those mistakes and growing. My advice to you would be to learn to turn off that mind, let go a little and just feel. It's something I'm learning to do myself.

I also want to add that I don't think I've ever been more proud of this community than after reading that thread. You're all amazing people and brought your own unique perspectives to the discussion. I learned a lot, I laughed a lot, it was great. :mates:

Thanks man, it's good to be back. Took a while to work up the courage to face everything, it seems I made quite a mess. People like me hate being the center of attention particularly when life is so complicated at the moment. However, you all have become part of my family and I'm willing to face the fact that perhaps you know something about life that I don't and that even extends to people that I considered my "enemies". After I almost died and was hospitalized, not once but twice this year, things seemed to fall into place and I realized that there's no time like the present. I like your avatar too, very honest. :bleh:
Thanks a lot. Believe me, I'm well aware of all the days gone by. Did I ever mention that I'm really bad at change? :blues:

I thought this would be a humoruos topic about/with some psychotropic guys and suddenly a guy with an overdose of Krav Maga is showing up.
@The Pirate, this thread is going to derail, do something. :guru:

As per definition (don't ask me which :winker:) as soon as a thread is started it is on the rail, IMHO.
