why in surround speaker placement 5.1 u need a center speaker

    why in surround speaker placement 5.1 u need a center speaker

    whilst in stereo we don't need it?

    Stereo is a blended sound space...Dialog is mixed in center

    In 5.1 the Sound space is set in a 360 Aural spectrum.
    Seperating the elements in varying degrees to the right-left front of you and the right -left behind you.
    The center speaker is dedicated specifically to Dialog.
    As when a person speaks to you they are In Front of you!

    To me, this is the second mistake they made in defining 5.1, because it only works (properly) if the person is also visually in the centre.
