$50-60 upgrade & $99 for earlier version upgrades is reasonable imho. Also, I don’t believe in grace window upgrades because it’s the early adopters who deal with bugs, fixes & report issues in the first place. Also, grace period offers reward people for not being loyal.... The way these companies lately have been sucking customers dry is gross. I understand companies need money for employees, overhead & R&D. But man, they really like to screw you during the holidays.

    Didn't know that!

    My question to Arturia:

Really nice analog LAB V. But what do these plugs take as a place. It would be a good idea to be able to install the sound banks on a separate disk from the OS with a symbolic link like linkshell. Given the power of the procs, the M2 disks and the current RAM, it would not hinder the loading. This is the case for Kontakt banks. Please think about it, Mr. Arturia. Thank you

    Hello,

This is possible since VC7.2 by moving resources via the Arturia Software Center.

To do this, go to the preferences, on the top right hand side of your name and to the "Folders" tab.

From there, you will have the link of the resources and to its right "Browse". Then follow the instructions and choose the new destination path, which may be another drive on the computer, or an external drive.

It's hard that software marketing/pricing/service surprises me at this point, but I'm quite shocked by some things in this thread.

For what it's worth, the Emulator is pretty cool because I don't think there's been a plugin based on it with this level of fidelity. But it's head-scratching the idea of doing the Juno when everyone else under the sun has already done it. Maybe it's just purely sales-driven because the Juno, Jupiter, Minimoog and such is held in such high regard that it's practically a mandate if a plugin developer wants to stay in business. Who knows.

I just want something new. Give me Waldorf synths, Novation stuff, Nord Leads. Things that no one else has ever emulated before or at least with a very high level of quality.

I'm hoping that it's an accurate Juno-106 emulation (like Roland's own Cloud version) that actually comes with or allows you to add all the original factory presets (unlike Roland's own Cloud version). Even TAL-U-NO-LX only comes with one bank of original Juno presets, and it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as Roland's, while Digital Performer's version is MAS only, so it's useless outside the DAW. As for the rest ... eh. I've got both volumes of "Universe of Sounds" for Kontakt, so I don't really need any Emulator II stuff, and their other synths sound pretty much the same as they have for over ten years now.

Yeah, but does their Emulator II, erm, emulator actually load EII samples? (I've got it downloaded, so I assume I'll find out!) It seems like a huge missed opportunity if it doesn't. I think the CMI actually does, as I dug up a bunch of old factory stuff that works with it.

I think I feel the same way about their electric pianos, organs and acoustic pianos as you do about their polysynths, though. The last thing I need is more of either of those three instruments -- almost every plug bundle that includes soft synths seems to have them now (Waves, AIR, etc.).

Yes they sound much better and wider, but on my i7 some preset eat 60-80% of CPU so for for me it is unusable for now. I'll try later.

Sorry to crush your hopes but if you actually *look* at it you can clearly see it's a Juno 6/60 emulation, not the 106 (which is in the ballpark but sounds a little different.).

Yes. Just like the Fairlight, it comes with a bunch of sample content that isn't referenced in the presets, so you can dig through the included sample library of both classic EII samples and other stuff. You can also load your own samples in it too.

I was wondering if it was actually a sample player; that's awesome!

No, I actually didn't look at it closely. Oh, well. I did like the older Juno models, but I'm partial to the 106 (my first analog hardware synth back in the late Eighties).

I asked the same question and, unfortunately, it probably comes down to sales. I want new synths and things that nobody has done before, not the same things that have already been done by a dozen other developers. It's likely however that a Juno, Jupiter, Minimoog, Prophet, and the like all sell like hot cakes. The name alone is familiar and will generate sales which is why, from a business standpoint, it makes sense to do it.

I personally see it as overly-saturated because there doesn't need to be this many analog polysynth plugins, but it is what it is. The Oberheim OB-XA was at least something that nobody had ever really tried to a strong level. I'm in the same boat as you and hope the coming years see much more interest in re-creating the analogs and virtual analogs of the 90s/2k era. There's loads of 'modern classics' there that have barely been in touched in the past ten years of plugin development and I think we're getting to the point where they are 'vintage' enough that there would be more interest (if Korg releasing the Triton plugin is proof of anything).

Not an Arturia user, but they sound pretty nasty.
