I understand that the recent owners of Live 10 are angry...
Jump from 10.1 to 11, 150/200$ to upgrade from Live 10... Come on Ableton !
This move is clearly motivated by money, everybody can see it.

BUT, I'm testing Live 11 since his announcement, and I have to say I don't want to come back to the 10,
even if there are frustrations, shared by almost all the Live users (no Sandbox,no ARA2, no BiP, no Midi tools...), the new
features and devices bring some freshness and it's pleasant.

Let's see what the future brings...
Also i see Bitwig becoming a real option (don't like the idea of a 12 months plan, but why not).

Wow... an avid and loyal user since day 1.. fanboy even.. and.. I literally find nothing interesting or useful at all in that whole clip.

Good lord.. put SOME effort into the piano roll.

    Unfortunate.

    I´m here now!
Yeah for fuck sake. Like the cool dudes (you included) with thoose BIG well sounding tunes with nested groupings, a tone of third party plugins at master that the stundent never going to see. And why not some returns with homemade serial racks. Thats good sounding and then WHAT moron. Why do you think he keep it simple you st*** ****

BTW You was so focused to write some ubercool replay and insult me so you problably missed what before my link. So here it is again:

I am aware that those who have had opinions in this thread so far are well acquainted with the news in Ableton Live. My post is more to the first DAW buyers interested in Live or ppl who is interested in changing DAW and therefore with little knowledge of Ableton.

Now, I leave you cool dudes. Never argue with a ... and so on CIAO!

I will switch from Logic to Ableton soon. Are they planning adding something like Flex Pitch? I love the workflow to have something like this directly in the DAW and not have to use melodyne etc.

Was 'tone' a clever play on words, or did you fail second grade English?

Perhaps failed reading and comprehensioon too.. AS...

I was referring to MYSELF as a fanboy.. so cmon.. dont be a tit. No one was insulting you.. nor was my post about YOU.

Eh.. I suppose I should probably be happy that I didn't understand a word of what you just wrote. Let me guess, failed writing too...

    Trifecta!

As I just installed Live 11, the scales feature is really cool for my workflow. Allows to experiment and play around much quicker. MPE is great to have as well and as always very intuitive and fast to work with. As they split up the piano roll in tabs now, here is hope that we'll actually see more extensions for the midi tools soon. The groundwork to add more functionality in further tabs is there now.

I see people bring up PDC issues in Live from time to time, what is actually wrong with it? Is it broken in general or it breaks in some circumstances? I'm not a Live user myself but remember they were fixing something about it when Live was version "9".

@FrequencyModulation I don't know Live's specific PDC problems, but there are some in all daws.
So out of your two posits, "broken in general" is the safer way of putting it.
The situations to encounter it in are different with different daws.
With Live I remember I could actually hear the difference in playback instantly.
    Maybe it's changed now, I don't know.

its broken (as in the PD is not C properly, timing is pretty essential to music right)

The problem is inherent to ableton, its technically a live DAW, made for live performance, so thats why the PDC works that way. dont expect it to be fixed unless they rewrite it and they have barely updated it so good luck waiting for that.

I have a folder in the Index directory i move the exe file to when i don't need it active. Ending in taskmanager needs it to be running which i don't want. :)

I'm assuming this is common knowledge, but just in case: Ableton does report plugin delay (or several plugins if they're grouped).

Hover over the plugin's/group's name and the delay caused by the plugin(s) is shown in samples and milliseconds.

Yeah, there are some plugins that don't report this delay properly which might be a problem if precise alignment is needed, but it's better than nothing, right?

somebody on cubase forum just take the cubase 11 folder and move from windows 10 to windows 7 and it worked.
Is there a god soul with ableton beta that could do that to try if it works??
i tried to use windows 10 this days to see if i like but my projects is big and don't run flowlesly on windows 10. Just 7
This is killing my creativity, quality of work and everything :(:(

It's amazing that Bach, Mozart and many of the following generations of musicians managed to create halfway useful music without Windows 10 and Cubase 11. :dunno:

You need to spend some time to tweak windows 10, after that it will perform flawlessly. Seriously give 10 a try, because out of the box it will be a painful experience.
