    Higher SNR, better phase coherence

uh, no I don't think so

what? :woot: are you kidding me?

    imho that's pretty impressive

Take a look at the frequency-dependent structuring of the harmonics and then tell us again, True Iron does nothing special :bleh: :winker:

Right, that's pretty uncommon, especially the first four harmonics in the first three pics.

As you may know, I find it very interesting and informative to measure plugins, but someone way more picky than me could argue that
    1. the 25Hz response may not be so relevant for most of the music and
    2. these nice little bumps at around -130dB may not be that audible.
    :bleh: :winker:

Hmmm, I have never tried Noise Ash stuff. I find them somewhat Snake-Oil(ish).

I would argue against it because
    1. the test tone frequencies of the measurement only serves as an example of the dynamic response curve.
    2. In masteringgrade builds these "bumps" also show very low amplitudes... and they add up when used multiple times across tracks. Less HF-harmonic amplitude means: better suited for digital applications.

    That's how I got it.

As the sources do, so the difference in level remains.

Because it results in less aliasing, agreed.

However, even if Kazrog did a good job in emulating transformer-like behaviour, just by listening to it (the version with the lesser voicing options, v1.1.x IIRC) I couldn't find anything 'great', anything superior, but YMMV and that's absolutely ok.

That's right. But I meant, that the harmonics add up in amplitude over the frequency spectrum. We do not mix sine tones, but complex material. And this adds up in sum.
Ah ok. Magic comes with DNA. It's a nice circuit emulation, but not everyone's taste

True Iron is a savagely underrated plugin, which I believe is because it doesn't tear your face off with saturation/distortion or Lofi mud-crunch, but it is a stellar plugin that is on every one of my mixes. Like some of the best--McDSPs AC101, Black Rooster's VPRE-73, PSP's Vintage Warmer, and a new kid on the block, Fuse Audio's Flywheel--these are all plugins that aren't meant to be cranked to 11, but finessed to each track to give it just a bit richer/warmer/edgier tone. Plugins like these really shine when you put them on every channel. Seriously, add individually tailored instances of any of the afore mentioned plugins on every channel of your track, *accurately gain stage* them, and then try switching them on and off; it will go from thin and flat to warm and robust.

I wouldn't put XLN on the list but, otherwise, agreed. :)

    Quite correct.

Somebody needs to kick that Snake Oil guy off a cliff and be done with him. I hold enough loathing for audio reviewers who somehow think that their word is law without having to tolerate this guy pretending he's some guru to which all should listen. :knock:

In summary? Kazrog Ture Iron isn't something that you only "get" if you're an audiophile; it really will add warmth and thickness to your tracks in a pleasant, analogue-y way, it just depends on whether or not that's what you think your tracks need (You can probably skip this plugin if you're making Neo-Manic Noizestep, or some such EDM-esque genre.)
