    Hi all.

I am looking for a tablet PC (not Mac) with Win7 or Win 8 as the title describes to work with Ableton Live 9.

I dont know much about tablet CPUs Cortex, Atom, Tegra etc. Which one is the best/ most powerfull to use ? Or are there any other possibilities to
convert an Ipad or an Android tablet into a Windows PC? any recommendations? Can you also make any comparisons between tablet CPUs vs desktop CPUs in order to see the powerdifferencies.

    Thnx in advance.

As far as I know you can run Ableton on each Tablet that has a real Windows 8 ... Of cause Ableton is not optimized for touch operating. But it will work as long as you dont buy a SurfaceRT or Windows RT variant..as this will only run Apps and no regular Win Programs.

You won't have much fun running any DAW natively on a typical Windows tablet, if supported at all. Audio recording might be OK, but VSTi? Better forget it.
The only "Tablet" choice might be, as ovalf said, a laptop with touch display and a Core2Duo CPU or above (i5 or i7 with 4 cores is even better), or using the tablet as a remote display using Windows RDP. For this purpose, even a cheap ($100) Android tablet is usually fast enough. (I'm using an old Archos 10 without problems, although the display could be larger).

Or, say goodbye to Ableton and get an iPad 4 which does remarkably well in terms of audio performance and compared to Android devices. Beatmaker 2 for composing and the free Novation Launchpad for "remixing" your patterns could be a good start.

checkout "touchable" and "livecontrol 2" apps for ipad to remote ableton live
also konkreet labs performer for any midi-device/software looks great, handling looks bit like the reactable

in my opinion ipad is the tablet with most kinda pro audioapps (waldorf nave, korg electribes, amplitube, more and more)
also you can get holder for statives, apogee pro audiointerfaces, dockingstations with/without keys/controlls which offers your needed audio in/outs so on and so on

sadly its also highest priced :)

ipad 3 is recommended, with ipad2 audio export is a bit more inconvenient

Thnx 4 the replies. I think the best way is a covertible PC with i5 or i7 cpu and a 500GB SSD.

asus have some extreme slim tablet/notebooks.. the problem wish slim and small is memory. You will hardly be available to have a lot of files or enough ram to handle many plugins.

There's image line and nuendo/cubasis app that does a pretty good job, but they are specifically design for tablets. While on the other hand Ableton/pro tools/studio one are based on a more need it hardware for it to work properly.. such as enough ram, cpu, etc..

I'm sure next year, there will be more daws launching their apps since it start to become a new market.

Here you have a list of all available Tablets and SemiTablets (incl. keyboard) that have a full Windows 8 (not Windows RT).
Sorry discription is in german..but I think its easy to understand.
    PC Welt Win 8 Tablets

On the left side you should set the filter for "Betriebssystem = Operating system" to Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro.
