Hi i was watching this Miley Cirus vid
she says at the beginning at 4 seconds that she showed the song to producers in LA but they were responding "we don't need it"

i'm trying to understand the business side of this...they don't need it in regards to what? how does that work exactly

 

Most of the time "we don't need it" means, we already have someone that fits this same part of the market.

 

But what risk does the producer takes if they record Miley Cirus? i don't understand this part

it seems like the producer is taking some sort of risk if they carry on.........Maybe Miley CIrus is requesting payment to enter their studio?

Maybe she doesn't pay for recording time etc.......but instead maybe she requires payment and producer gets an ownership in the song?

 

It's business. If they think the effort (time and money) ain't worth the income they just drop it.

 

Rejecting Miley Cyrus. Okay... Well, still enough producers out there that are willing to work with her anyway.

to miley cyrus is washed littl boy. No twerk no cash no long term talent - sales have been negative for her a long time, like j lo but still go on and on with no talents. bad investment for producer. you wont here this on taylor swift or any real sellers

 

I wouldn't read anything into such an offhand comment.

Because of this thread I did some googling:

It seems everyone involved tells the story differently. First one says it was a song writing session for a Beyonce song but that they then planned to present the song to Miley Cyrus on a specific week day. Second one says it was a song writing session for a Miley Cyrus song. Third one seems to say it was a coincidence the song was presented to Cyrus.

What did we learn: sometimes, especially in show business, people make stuff up to make the stories more interesting.

If I had to guess she probably liked the song and then played it to some of her friends in the business who said 'meh' and there was never any 'shopping' going on.

It was an off-hand comment and not really to be focused on.

 

Not sure if I got this right she works for a publishing company not a label I thought the label paid for everything then got it back as the sales go hmmm the music biz is so weird glad Im a hobbyist music guy everyone has there hand out
