When I was looking if there was a new update for ChowTape I noticed this hidden gem and can't see that anyone else has posted anything about it. Really nice sim of the holy grail of guitar pedals! The neural setting seems to behave a bit odd sometimes for me but overall I really like the sounds you can get. A-B it with NeuralDSP's Klon in the Cory Wong plug-in and I think they both sound really good though the Chowdhury is a bit brighter in tone. Same here! Have never tried one for real so I'm no expert in how it is supposed to sound but this plug-in seems to do what people say a Klon does. I've been thinking about buying a Wampler Tumnus so maybe I will do a shootout between it and this plug-in some day

Yes, downloaded it too but haven't tested it yet! This guy makes really good plug-ins. I use U-he Satin as my go to tape sim but after I tried ChowTape I realised it can do pretty much everything I need, it sounds very good and is light on the cpu.

 

Yes, and don't forget to update it always, as it is getting better and better, usually an update per 1-2 months. According to its milestone (roadmap or WIP pre-release notes), there will be many new features and improvements in 2.7.0

I've been using it in front of Archetype Plini, especially in front of amp 2 and it sounds amazing!

 

I never had the money for the original Centaur. The most expensive clone that I played was the one made by Ceriatone.
Strangely enough, worked wonderfully boosting in front of an overdrive (i was using then the Tech21 Double Drive, a favourite of mine), but i was unable to enjoy the Centaur as an overdrive by itself. I have a friend who plays the clone by Wampler (Tumnus) in front of a JHS' Morning Glory, and the tone is... well... glorious. I'm curious to check this VST version.
