Despite the very real possibility of backlash from rabid Win10 fans, I have to ask--is this a Win10 *only thing, or is that just suggested?

This app works with all Windows versions, as long as you have .NET v4.7.2 (or higher) installed.

I'm not familiar with the “USB selective suspend”, but external hard drives have their own sleeping time settings regardless of how your computer is set up afaik.

 

That setting can be found by going to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options, then selecting a power plan and clicking on Change advanced power settings, and then under USB settings.

 

On MacOS: Open Terminal in any folder on the external drive and type:
while [ 1 ]; do sleep 25; touch blabla; done

 

I like your app because it's very simple to use. Good job!

However, for those who need more features, try HDParm [for Linux]. Since I'm on Linux most of the time, I use it a lot, but there is a Windows version of it, that I also use when I'm making music.
