No. Any exothermic chemical reaction is destructive but creates new compounds.

You can't have a Foster thread without ALL the essential ingredients... :winker:
    - Science
    - Religion
    - Conspiracy Theory
    - Insanity

The Science - Create and Destroy - Big Bang + Big Crunch = Big Bounce
    Big Bang

    =============

The Religion and The Conspiracy Theory - the truth revealed...
Brahma creates the universe (BIG BANG), Vishnu nurtures and preserves it, and at the end of its lifetime,
Shiva destroys it, annihilating it into nothingness (BIG CRUNCH), and the cycle starts again. (BIG BOUNCE).
    It takes billions of years!
@Lois Lane (AKA Saraswati- Brahma's consort - bearer of 'knowledge to create') provides the soundtrack!
and is part of a conspiracy theory that's been running for an eternity.
And @No Avenger has some explaining to do sitting quietly at the feet of Shiva - destroyer of the Universe!

"The pen is mightier than the sword"...unless someone cuts my head off with a rapier for destroying them in prose, song or created visual artwork.

Two ponderous pigs purported to provide decisive discussion on diverse diction and scintillating speech to similar swine while lounging withn their outdoor fenced in enclosure, and while were deep in discussion one day, piggy #1 turned to piggy #2 and uttered (not exactly like their bovine neighbors), "I'm not quite sure why some say that the pen is mightier than the sword". The other just stared into space.

Nothing resides outside of nature, the laws which govern this reality. Everything is but seen from the perspective of this limited physical mind which is constantly in flux at the nano level and beyond.

Coincidentally we were talking about the Mandelbrot set with friends just today and this video got linked:

Yeah, it's a bit pop sci but you know, it's still a decent starting point for those whose knowledge of the set is just pretty pictures. Complexity out of simplicity, oh yeah.

    oh yeah - indeed

    Conway's game of life
Perhaps not as artistically elegant as the Mandelbrot set possibilities, but every bit as fascinating...
and yes, not just pretty pictures  thought provoking if we're awake

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2vgICfQawE
and a nice sarcastic comment from one the Youtube viewers...
"Meanwhile in the video all the cells are denying they're in a simulation"
    ----
Lois, thanks, one of the nicest Mandelbrot videos I've ever seen.

The video is obviously technically fudged to cleverly repeat
BUT conceptually (via what's generated from Mandelbrot set) - you ARE zooming in (or out) forever.

I mean, Foster's isn't the greatest beer in the world but I wouldn't go as far as to say that there's no need for more beer.

Does this mean sound could be used as an energy source to power something like a battery?

Since energy can only be transformed and not created or destroyed, yes. But this transformation would be veery lossy.

    Every little helps... https://engineering.mit.edu/engage/ask-an-engineer/can-sound-be-converted-to-useful-energy/
    Extracts:
What the human ear perceives as clanging cacophony — the roar of a train engine or the whine of a pneumatic drill — only translates to about a hundredth of a watt per square meter. In contrast, the amount of sunlight hitting a given spot on the earth is about 680 watts per meter squared.
An architectural research firm investigating ways to convert environmental vibrations into electricity. As crowds walk through malls, sports arenas, and other high-traffic areas, small hydraulic generators beneath the company’s floor tiles capture the vibrations of their steps — and generate enough electricity to power nearby phone-charging stations and illuminate electronic signage and advertising.

    That's entropy, no?

Kind of like threads in this forum, discussion dissolving into metaphysical bollocks, losing the original momentum and becoming just noise... :dunno:

I too was in discusion with a friend concerning the nature of reality/metaphysics and this video popped up two days ago. It surely informed the reponses which I posted in this thread. Maybe we have a common set of colleagues.
