Actually yes: it happens (very sporadically) to have an mp3 file instead of a flac, but I guess it is not a Deezmix bug, it seems as if the best resolution is missing on Deezer, so the app looks for the highest bitrate available version of mp3
In fact, in the Deezmix settings there is an option called "bitrate fallback"

 

I just tried it, as well, and it works, indeed. However, most songs that are grayed out on Spotify, are unavailable on Deezer, too.
And I downloaded a song that seems a broken flac, the second half of the song doesn't play. If someone wants to check: Greenhouse by Yellowjackets
We're in the end of 2020 and amazingly none of these streaming services have come close to the variety of songs that you would find on Napster 20 years ago.

What I really dislike in Deezer, after a quick check, is that it's structure is a mess, there are playlists from other streaming services appearing among the results but obviously you can't play them because those aren't on Deezer. I don't get it what's the point showing it?

Actually the whole album is broken. Last night I just couldn't check them, just tested deemix. First I thought VLC was the culprit but converting to aiff with XLD got the same.
I miss Napster golden age. Even if those files were 320kbps at best and after having listened to the already reduced, CD quality in the '90s I wanted to refuse the even worse mp3 but the rare opportunity that Napster had given me I couldn't resist as that was the only way to get many music that hadn't been available even in the biggest CD stores in NY. Anything that anyone possessed by around the World, was reachable in mp3.

I don't understand the record labels why don't they throw every single album they've ever released on these streaming services. Ripping CD is not a rocket science and doesn't really cost much labor work for them. I'm speaking about old, rare albums, band formations. Like the Chick Corea Akoustic Band which won Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance in 1990 that has the song T.B.C. (Terminal Baggage Claim) that is one of my favorites.
Or the album Reunion by Gary Burton and Pat Metheny in which I can find the song Reunion from other albums but not the song The Chief that even youtube blocks in my region. Amazon has it but also on its free music app it's blocked.

I've got these songs from the past, mostly from that Napster era but would like to have the comfort to listen to them on the go or without having to connect a pendrive with the songs to my audio system, or load them to my phone in mp3 and open the music app of the phone I never use. I could buy the cd from Amazon for 20 bucks with shipping fees but in 2020 it's not useful, I don't remember the last time I turned on my cd player. And again, ripping the cd to a file format is not much benefit from what I've already got.
And we're speaking about streaming services that (in theory) can support the musicians/record labels when we stream their music. So I don't understand...

Off-topic, but that particular album - and other Corea's fusion albums - was released on GRP records which in general is NOT on Spotify for some reason. There are some, but for instance Chick Corea's Elektric Band's classic eponymous debut album from 1986 isn't there. Most of the tracks that are there, are from random 'best of' compilations.

This is why I still hold on to my CDs. Or borrow albums that I loved and rip them into my digital library. In addition to collecting vinyl.

Most of these programs can do the same, can save songs in different formats, nothing extraordinary.
Don't bother trying to differentiate your buddy's product!

 

Why? What is the point of having a smaller file of the original 320kbps mp3?
Flac is just a lossless compression container.
Great for full-rate audio, but I don't understand why you would want to convert a 320 mp3 to flac.

 

I personally make use of AudFree Spotify downloader Mac to save content from Sptofify to the local folder on my Mac computer. It works at 5X faster speed and promises no loss of original quality and ID3 tags. Of course, it is also applicable to Windows.

 

hehe, i was a bit surprised reading my own comment. its because I thought these apps captured a stream and re-coded that, in that case a Wav or Flac would keep more of the original information than capturing and re-coding to mp3 again. But it seems that some of these apps get you an "original" mp3 so a 320 should be all you need

I am using DumpMedia. It still works. And it functions well. I have downloaded more than 600 songs via this tool. It supports batch conversion. So I can quickly get the converted songs. True meaning of that word in that context only implies that your end result is the "original" mp3, not the source.
Apart from Spotify @320 kbps, every other form of media outlet will have vids with compressed audio anyway.
But hey, I've still ripped audio from YT! lol. I just know what to reduce it to without losing anymore quality.
I don't think anything else even streams a better quality than 320 kbps? (Forgetting Tidal, obvs.)
SC default is less I believe, and even bought iTunes songs are a terrible VBR 256 kbps. All so sad, imo.
