Badass update. Hoping the slight overheating issue in 5.0.2 has been solved.

Love this daw, there’s something about it that makes me feel right at home.

Really good update as for such a minor version. And almost all bugs got fixed. Cool.

I hope one day they will change the color of the DAW. I think it's too depressing..

Why don't you customize the colours yourself via the options menu / appearance if you need to be cheered up? Works wonders.

Really impressed with improvement to sound engine. Not so impressed with VST handling. Half of VSTs not showing up. Retail & free version.
No Plugin Alliance, iZotope, TDR, Overloud, Sound Radix, Harrison, DMG Audio, Celemony, Wavesfactory, Nektar, discoDSP or A.O.M.

Reset blacklist, restarted & rescanned. No joy in mudville tonight.......

    Solved!
Seems that Studio One only scans one level deep for some reason. Also had to move VST3 plugins from external drive to default VST3 system folder.

Does this version bring some cpu improvement over the v5.0.1?

The listening bus is a brillant idea, but I don't understand why they don't give the possibility to have as many listening busses as the user wants..

Yes! Should have said 'Core' engine instead of sound. Early stages of comparing same project between Reaper, Pro Tools & S1.

So far there are slight differences between S1 & Reaper in CPU usage (18% peak vs. 24%peak), and rendered mixdown using the same files, settings and plugins. Not complete cancelling out when phase is flipped but strangely, no perceivable artifacts when played together. Loud clear & punchy.

The next step will be to recreate the session totally from scratch in S1 & then Pro Tools. Then a true one-to-one comparison can be done with rendered mixdowns.

Also curious to see if S1 can handle Bettermaker EQ232D without noticable smearing like Pro Tools (proper PDC).

If that's 24% vs 18% in reaper, that's acceptable. That was roughly the same difference with S1 v4 vs Reaper.
With the v5.01 I had cpu spikes with a dozen of audio tracks, with maybe only 5 plugins.I had to bounce absolutely everything.I left this v5 ,it was unusable for me.With v4 I can run 50 tracks with 200 plugins.

Interesting test for people arguing DAWs sound different.

There is an audible difference when the renders are played separately but as mentioned, all seems well when played together.
This is why I want to recreate the project from scratch in each DAW.

Many plugins , like tape /analog delays /reverbs,saturation/nonlinear - working with random algorithms ..
therefore, there can be no 100 percent complete phase cancelling ....
Because every render is not the same ....

I don't know if i'm the only one that have a little bit more latency when playing with the midi keyboard than V4 (both with the same settings)

While this is true, there are differences between DAW output using the same 'raw' source files.

After getting caught up up Warrior, I finished setting up a new session in Pro tools, Reaper & S1. No FX, no panning, individual tracks seto to -6.0dB, mix bus set to -6.0dB. Loaded into Mixbus 32C. Each track had an audible difference. Flipped phase on each track comparing to other two. No complete cancellation from any combination.

Source tracks were from Andrew Scheps "Mixing Fly Rasta". Have only watched first two parts after completing a mix.

Should be able to replicate experiment with any clean source files I would imagine.

S1 very close to being a jumping off point for a lot of people I would wager.

No latency here. ASIO buffer set to 64 & S1 dropout protection set to minimum. Default sessions are 24bit/48kHz.

Are you connecting through a USB hub or directly? Hubs can cause additional lag. Especially on USB 2.

I'm interested when will they add "heal separation" function ? It is very handy to have it when you do automatic silence trim and when it makes a cut somewhere where is not needed, one click - healed where it needed to be.

I usually run a keygen in a VM. It looks like that method doesn't work with this release. Is there a safe way to run the crack?
