Hello. I have one annoying problem in Kontakt. I use it in Ableton. I load a Kontakt as usual. Choose a Library. Then start to choose a presets. After I choose one I close the Kontakt window and do other stuff in ableton. Then I open the same Kontakt window to manipulate Kontakt or choose other presets. And if I click on the next preset arrow It reset preset to the first one in the preset menu. Not the next one after one I choose. It reset it to the first one in that specific library i choose. So each time I have to open a preset window and search for that preset that has been chosen so I can click next one. Its so annoying. I cant find any answer online. Thanks in advance !!

*UPDATE: Same thing in Studio One

    Hi,

I have 2 problems with kontakt 6.3.2. The standalone app won't open, it just shows up in the dock for half a second and disappears. That's not a big issue as I use it only in Logic where it opens normally. But the bigger thing is the problem with adding libraries. The problem was there with the Kontakt 6.0.2 so I've updated but didn't fixed anything. I add the libraries via the AddLibrary_v31 terminal script. Some of the libraries appear on the list and some (the major amount of them) not... When I drag the .nki files to the Kontakt they open and work flawlessly so I don't know why is it so... I've tried adding them via Kontakt 5.6 and then changing the SNPID but it doesn't make any difference... Please help me :)

Did you try Permission Reset on the standalone Kontakt to repair permissions? It tends to solve that problem.

Easy to fix. Open Terminal and type the following command. You will be asked for admin password.

sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/Native\ Instruments/Kontakt/Kontakt.app

    Thanks!

Unfortunately I didn't helped. What I found is that all libraries that don't add via the AddLibrary_v31 have .nkr and .nkc files instead of .nicnt. I found the solution to make them appear in the Kontakt Factory Selection Library but I'm wondering if there's another way to make them appear like all other libraries? If not, I will just leave that way.

There some technical steps you would need to follow. Yes, the sample libraries, if they have a .nicnt file, can then be loaded. However, if you do not have one and want to create one, there are careful steps to follow.
    • I recommend you create a list of the existing SNPIDs in your libraries as a text file so that you know which ones are already "taken".
    • Create a new .nicnt file in a text editor of your choice and be sure to fill-in these XML tags..
    <Name>NAME</Name>
    <RegKey>NAME</RegKey>
    <SNPID>snpid</SNPID>
Put the sample library name in where it says NAME in my example, and create a new snpid that does not already exist in your libraries. When folks get this wrong they notice that either the new library or a previous one disappears in Kontakt. Don't forget to add this entry to your list of SNPIDs.
    • While you're at it, create a wallpaper file. It must be named "wallpaper.png". NOTE: case matters. Many kind folks upload beautiful wallpapers on this site for your use.
    • Use Kontakt 5.6.0 to add the library.
    • After the new library gets added, you need to check the XML file that gets created in your /Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Service Center folder. The XML file will have the same NAME as you used above.
    • Edit that XML and look for the line that looks like this:
    <SNPID>0</SNPID>
Change the SNPID to match the one you created in your .nicnt file.

Thanks a lot fastfingers! This is priceless! Seems like I have a lot of work to do! Will take care of it in a week or so. One more question - if I do a batch re-save will I be able to create the .nicnt files later and reorganize my library or should I wait? My libraries are fast as hell due to an SSD but it's never too fast when talking about loading times :D

Batch re-save doesn't affect the add library process.
It only means, you can't load the instrument patches from that library in an earlier version of Kontakt afterwards. But you can always add libraries with Kontakt 5.6.0 standalone for libraries created or re-saved in newer version.

Hello to all the good people of the community! I've been a long term member of audioZ site but now for the first time I am posting here because I could really apreciate some help with installing Kontakt 6 on a Mac.

I see many versions floating around there but all of them seem to have problems, libraries not showing up, etc. I am not sure which version to download or what instructions to follow to be able to install Kontakt 6, add new libraries, and also keep all the old ones.

I had Kontakt 5 installed for the last 5 years, working without a fuss in Ableton Live, but now I got a few new libraries that I'd like to try, my Kontakt 5 does not support them. I run a High Sierra Hackintosh.. so please if anyone can point me to a release that is stable for my System I would be soo much grateful!

P.S. I know links are not allowed here, so all I ask is for a name of the release that works, along with solid instructions on installation

There is something you should know and it is a good news:
You can keep your Kontakt 5 with all those libraries loading in it flawlessly and install Kontakt 6 that won't interfere with version 5.
There will be a differently named plugin for the two different version of Kontakt. Actually you will have a Kontakt 5.vst (or .component) and a Kontakt.vst which is for version 6.

To add library you will still need the Kontakt 5.6.0 standalone app that nowadays comes with the installation of Kontakt 6 libraries that you find on sistersite.
Which version of Kontakt 6? Well, I guess the newest subversions must run on High Sierra. I stuck on El Capitan, so I couldn't upgrade to 6.1 either. Check the comments on the latest releases on sistersite, people are reflecting there about which one works well on which OS system.

I'm using Mac OS X 10.15.7 (Catalina), Logic Pro X 10.5.1, Kontakt 5.6.0 K'd to add libraries, and Kontakt 6.4.0 K'd. It all works fine.
Running on a early 2013 15" MacBook Pro however, and lusting for a new Mac.

how did you get 5.6.0 to install on your Catalina?

I have a new computer and doing new installs and it seems I first needed to install 5.4.1. and then update to 5.6.0 in the kd file.

however it is not installing for me asking me to "contact the manufacturer"

will I be able to work with all the downloaded Kontakt files I spent years trying to obtain :(

If anyone wants to make a small amount I would pay to have TeamViewer session where someone can guide me through making this work

(OSX 10.15.7 trying to do new install of Kontakt and have libraries work within it)
