You are certainly welcome! For gamimg current & future tiles, consider 8GB for a video card. Have run Sniper Elite 3 on a Quadro K400 with 1GB. Over the next week I am hoping previous gen product pricing will reduce. You will also have a better idea of what newer options may be preferred.

Yeah, I changed the video card to this one for now. Will probably upgrade this later in the year after some more money comes in.

I mostly just play Counter Strike which is not very intensive lol

That card should hold up. You won't need to upgrade for years unless you start doing something that needs more GPU power.

The link works alright. I am sorry i answered you. Keep your attitude to yourself. And if you had any knowledge whatsoever you 'd know that Asrock, which i am not any particular fan anyway, started as a separate subsidiary of Asus and although now they are different entities, they still have stock in the company.
    Meh.

Nice build, all is fine minus the hdd, i will explain later on. But for now you should wait a few days, today AMD announces Zen 3. So after this, you will have two options. One is get the same build but cheaper because the older cpu prices will drop anytime soon and the other is get a new shiny Ryzen 5000 series cpu for about the same money.
About the hdd. Well, it's the nth time i am speaking about this, but np. The hdd on your build is a NAS drive. These drives are dependent on a RAID controller and will not operate properly as a single drive. Which means that the functionality a NAS drive offers is gone without at least another identical drive and both in RAID mode either 0 or 1.
You should also consider seriously getting an SSD for system drive. It will speed up loading times significantly, especially for DAW work.
    Cheers

Glad things are working out for you. taskforce mentioned that the HDD is not a good choice. It can be used for normal desktop operation They are designed to be run 24/7 up to 180TB a year and, are meant for 6GB a second on demand access.

Ah yeah, I see what you mean. I didn't buy that one- it was really just a placeholder for any 4TB HDD that I clicked on too hastily. I bought a different 4TB HDD, and that ADATA 2TB SSD for the system drive.

As for the CPU, yeah, guess I kinda screwed myself there. Oh well.

    Hmmm. Let's see...
Ironwolf Pros are great drives no doubt about it, one of the best choices for nas/raid. If i may add, that these drives are designed for silent operation, focus on low temperature (rather than speed) and include anti-vibration techs that the desktop drives don't, because these hdds are supposed to be stacked many one next to the other. The most important feature any drive includes though, is error correction:
Typical desktop drives will keep running cycles trying to fix an error and this could take hours even days lol. NAS drives on the other hand just report the error to the raid controller and continue doing their job. The significant thing to notice here is, the error reporting.
Without a raid array, NAS drives are simply helpless against errors (which is a common thing in Windows), this is why it is imperative that these drives go at least in pairs or even better in redundant raid 5/6 arrays so they have some kind of backup built in (from a performance vs capacity vs data security view). Therefore, on its own a NAS drive is hit and miss, because error correction is lost without it operating in raid mode, thus being connected to a raid controller. It will work alright, but if you find your drive in a non operating state one day don't say i didn't warn ya :guru:
A quick notice here, the AMD platform leaves something to be desired from a workstation standpoint, since their mobos do not offer a raid 5 mode (only raid 0/1) like Intel based mobos do and this is a feature that should be there years ago. So unless you opt for something like a server board which may have a third party raid 5 controller, a user will need a separate pci-e Raid controller to employ raid 5 on AMD mobos which will take up some pci-e lanes anyway and is additional cost too.
    Ahhh, thanks for listening :)
PS: If you have any evidence that error reporting on a nas drive will be done properly without it being connected to a raid controller, i 'd like to know. Cheers.

So that this not devolve into an argument, I did some research before just saying yes, go ahead and use that drive.
Also, The Barracuda drives are not readily available so, most people do use the next-in-line choice, Ironwolf (Pro) if Seagate is there brand choice. A more robust drive with additional features.

We now know the official availability date. November5, 2020.

We also now know that prices are increasing by $50 across all SKUs.

Prices on Newegg & PCpartpicker have decreased by $50 for most previous gen SKus. Another $25 to $50 decrease is what I personally would see as acceptable & reasonable.

Why did they say they have the fastest single core performance? Did not see any CPU that went over 5.0 GHz. Just a reminder Intel Core i9-10900K Processor can do 5.3GHz

Wait for it... Reviews from Steve, Steve & Roman coming soon. Steve Burke will have no issue slamming AMD over hype vs. reality if warranted.

Also keep in mind that IPC (instructions per clock cycle) play a huge part in CPU performance. Not just frequency (GHz). Then there is the improved caching structure.

    Technology is king. Not brand.

Safe to say you won't have to worry about that 150W draw issue anymore huh?! XD

Cause while the clock is lower, their IPC is higher, so ACCORDING TO AMD, that makes up for the performance gap due to clock speeds. Obviously we'll have to wait for independent testing to validate those claims, but I personally wouldn't be surprised if its relatively accurate given their last 3 years.

I suspect that AMD has learned from past launches and, are taking into account the over-hyped Nvidia 3000 series launch. AMD is most likely being conservative & gracious with performance stats.

Wait until graphene nanotube CPUs come around. My best guess is in about 5-10 years. Then you'll see some real performance gains [up to 300% and frequencies beyond 10GHz] much lower power consumption and thus much lower temperatures. Of course, they're not exactly around the corner, but that is the next big step in computing. Something that will easily bury any silicon CPU. We are on a brink of some big changes in society,too... you can almost smell it in the air... through a breathing mask. :)

Edit: IBM had already made a first graphene CPU in 2011. The production tech is not much different from silicon CPUs, and that's it's huge advantage, so CPU factories like TSMC surely have something already churning nicely in their experimental labs. Remember that making smaller transistors than 10nm is already pretty hard with silicon. Now we have 7nm CPUs, and it isn't exactly clear if going smaller than 4nm transistors is even possible with silicon. Hence welcome graphene nanotubes.

I hope I'll be still around to play with one, due to my heart condition, cause I'm obviously not related to Keith Richards... Anyway, just imagine running like 200-300 polyphonic Divas all at once, @ 10GHz, 20W and 30c. In comparison, what we get nowadays is plain rubbish. Around +10% more performance every year... they just keep milking us.:rofl:My 6700K @4GHz is still more than adequate for my needs, even undervoltaged [it doesn't go beyond 60c]. I guess I'll have to update to another silicon at some point [something 7nm], but that will be my last computer with a silicon CPU, I reckon.

p.s. read slashdot to stay in the know. ;) The only real forum for computer professionals and enthusiasts. We know and predict the future of computing.

    Cheers!

Until then, I hope my i9 10850k serves me well. Would have loved switching to AMD but with a hackintosh for audio it's too much of a gamble in terms of compatibility.

It will be just fine, no worries.

Just if you have a quality power supply, though. It's the heart of a computer. The better the PSU, the longer life time of your computer. Many people don't think about it that way. So always treat yourself with some quality above 100 euro Corsair, BeQuiet. or Seasonic PSU and you can be almost sure it'll outlast your PC even. It also has a big influence on its stability, overclock, undervolting... everything.
