    As a rock/metal guitar lover this sucks, all right.

    The only collectionist disk I have ever bought was a sick collaboration between Brian May and Eddie Van Hallen, among others. "Star Fleet Project" (1984). Just an example of his enormous reach and influence.

    Rest in peace. His contribution to the guitar world will not be forgotten. One of my many guitar heroes in the late 70s ,early 80s. I spent many nights with my headphones on my tape recorder trying to desperately transcribe Eruption lol. Cheers Eddie, stay cool wherever you are.

    Damn ... the first rock musician that made me want to learn how to play keyboard, and made me feel bad that I could never learn how to play guitar. R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen and R.I.P. guitar solos in everything but heavy metal songs.

    Unlike many, I only got to know EVH late in my life. And I was absolutely stunned with the 5150 and from there, I started to research more and more about him. In addition to his technical excellence and incomparable right hand, EVH was a composer of immense talent. Beautiful melodies welled up from his fingers, whether on the piano or the guitar. Today, there will be a party in the world beyond, to receive this giant of music, of sound. I pray that he is at peace and more than ever, I thank EVH for all the energy and happiness that his music has provided me... and will continue!

    So many of us musicians are now right up there in age and even older than Eddie so when you get to our point in life we are more prone to illness or just die of old age in general, unfortunately we can't live forever. R.I.P. Eddie
