What programming languages do you know? What environment are you planning on using?

If none of this says anything, you might be better off starting with Reaper's ReaJS: https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/ , or perhaps one of the many modular environments like Max/MSP, PureData or Reaktor among others.

 

I'm wondering how many threads you have started on this?

You're going to "create VSTs" but dont know how to set up your dev environment or what you even need from VS to begin with? Something tells me you're not even close to writing a VST yet.

 

Use google as your friend: Try first to understand how to program vst how other tutorials explain. Try to understand how link vst dll and compile. If you succeed to create first one switch over to visual studio.
