I use RX 7 now. Fits my needs perfectly. It’s got all the stuff you were talking about in the 1st post. Downside is it can’t load Wave plugins.

Although it comes close, it's not completely similar unfortunately. Having the playhead in between dots doesn't work for me and the zoom behaviour with my trackpad doesn't capture the playhead so it seems.
I tried this with RX 8 but afaik it has no basic waveform view, only spectrogram. Furthermore the same 'issues' as mentioned with Ocenaudio.

Don't get me wrong, al those wave editors are probably great, but I'm a Sound Forge user for so long that it's difficult (also workflow wise) to go for a different approach. I use it only for editing wave files, don't care for all the other fancy stuff. That said, it still seems that there's no 'exact' emulation available which I think is strange.

There are some other tools that won't work anymore in future OS releases on Mac - or aren't uptodate anymore - so I'm really thinking about the option to add a Windows laptop just for these things.

There’s only one Sound Forge. It really comes down to running some sort of windows emulator to run Sound Forge or just make the adjustment.

For editing, placing the playhead in between the dots is the correct way to implement it IMHO, otherwise if you cut/paste, will the dot on the playhead be included or not?

True. Well, to use SF in the future the laptop suggestion would be the only option (if I can't find a decent wav editor that acts the same).
Well, to be honest, there must be a reason why so many editors have it in between but I can't work with it somehow because I'm used to the SF way, which makes also more sense to me. To answer the question: the dot will not be included. It results in the exact starting point.
The wav editor seems promising on the pictures yes. But besides price, there's also the e-licenser part (discussed on the previous page btw).

Still, I think it's strange that Magix will discontinue Mac updates for SF. I've read a lot of comments from users who don't mind to pay a fee for a working upgrade. Because now they're stuck with a very pricey product.
