He just died at 77 from covid. Rest in peace..Loved his band and his music, he'll be missed.

According to Rolling Stones, The Gleaner it is covid, and the (French) newspaper I read it in also states that.

He's gone. It doesn't really matter, although history in the future will recount lots of covid related deaths from now. That's for sure.
He was put in a medically induced coma.
Not many people make it back from that anyway.

 

I agree it doesn't matter, and I'm not the one splitting hairs here. Just reported what the news reported. I dont' think anyone cares if it's covid like symptoms or covid symptoms.
One of my favorite artist is gone. I discovered reggae thanks to him, Al Griffith (The Gladiators) which is still there but in poor shape, and of course Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. It's a very sad day for music. Let's just stay on topic.

I did PA for him, Desmond Dekker & The Aces, Yellowman, Eek-A-Mouse, Jah Shakka, Sly & Robbie. So many.
But Toots was such a very important part of all of this.
We must rejoice in his life, and continue to make music with a positive message.
