Do You have some detailed table of LUFS for most popular streaming services?

This guy's point of view is rarely interesting, much more often it isn't.
Apart from that, Izotope RX8 is a amazing app. Among the great features, it has the best acappella extractor I've ever heard

That wasn't too difficult, :winker: but interesting, because I think some things have changed

Yes, I do (hint: expand the post above mine). But since Spotify uses ReplayGain and Youtube has their own it's an estimate (but a pretty good one). So I'm not totally lost when checking the loudness.

Loudness normalization is still fairly new and there will come a time when they all share the same criteria, or at least come closer (middle-ground) to one universal way to measure loudness. I for one is thankful for loudness normalization. Life is so much easier with it, both as a music lover, musician, producer, mixing- and mastering engineer.

Btw, I like the dutch guy (others do not). He's talking informational straight talk with no BS, which I like.

    Side Comment:
If every musician and ensemble worldwide simultaneously got an epiphany that if they all withdrew their music from every streaming platform and sold it on their own website they would not have to conform to any standard and they would actually make some money from sales, and they would have what musicians did have just as the Internet kicked in. That gap between Record Label Dictatorship and Streaming Service Dictatorship where the musicians and audio engineers actually had some control.
NEVER going to happen. That takes unity and musicians and many engineers are divided. You only have to look on ANY music forum to know that and that is why there is not the industry as it was and the streamers exploited that disunity. There were times when royalties on albums and your music meant something and why so many musicians globally have been bent over and shafted, and a time when Audio engineers could specify the global audio standards, not a streaming service.

    As you were.

All popular streaming services are now in control of volume: starting from -16 LUFS their algorithm steps in
    (see @No Avenger pic)
The question is: what if i don't care and I overload the LUFS specs?
I made this test: I exported the same song mastered at -14LUFS and -8 LUFS and uploaded on youtube. No doubt about it: despite their different mastering loudness, the 2 videos have the same volume when played from website.

    -14 LUFS

    -8 LUFS

(In videos there is some crackle going on due to the screen recording)

Basically if the volume of the whole song goes over -14LUFS , it will be turned down accordingly.
No, I don't believe this is a good reason to literally stick to their standards: if I feel like uploading my master to -8 LUFS I'll do it. This test only confirms that the trivial use of compressor/limiter when mastering has now become a matter of personal taste on sound, and that loudness war on youtube is over.
I didn’t test with other streaming services but I can expect the same results

Note: It happens that the overloaded audio file ripped from youtube is same as the original (no volume reduction on audio encoding), I start to think that the volume control trick is in their web player.

Hahaha, well, I don't think there is anything wrong with an average dutch accent to be honest, except that it can sound really funny sometimes, but it really depends on the person and where you are. I know in the east and in the south there is a more different accent than compared in the west.

But in fact on average dutch, swedish and norway people are in the best three where english is spoken best as a second language, while dutch people also learn two extra languages like German and French and a high educated person learn latin aswell.

They can speak more languages than an average american, british or australian for instance. So you can't really blame them :)

Most people think that dutch people are just bad at it which I can understand if you see this:

Absolutely, this is what it's made for.

Of course, they're not allowed to manipulate the audio file itself. This is valid for every platform.

Even if this is true for YT and on principle for all platforms (Spotify with Replay Gain turned off is one obvious exception), the loudness war itself is still going on. You can easily find out by right clicking on YT vids and clicking on Stats for Nerds, that almost all EDM, Rock and Metal tracks are delivered with more than ~ -14LUFS, sadly.

It must be said that for some musical genres, the excessive use of limiter is a trademark (I can't imagine a kindly mastered Skrillex song). I'm sure that oversqueezing the master will remain a cultural heritage, despite the limitations of LUFS. Probably in the near future having a "sausage waveform" on file will be only a sound aesthetic and no longer a search for maximum volume.
It is a concept that we have already seen in rock era with the distortion on the electric guitar

Yeah, Skrillex is well known for abusing people's ears with the excessive use of limiters...

If anyone is interested, circumventing the youtube LUFS limit is actually possible
The platform keeps the original file on the server, volume control is applied by their web player. The solution is quite simple: play the video/playlist from VLC. I tried it and it actually works, The volume from VLC is much higher

@Roject the chart you posted is from 2013, meanwhile a huge amount of Metal tracks are lowered on YT by 8dB which means they're mastered at around -7 to -5LUFS. So, Laid to Rest by Lamb of God is pleasant to the ears - nowadays.

There is a gap between what you believe something is and what it really is, I'm talking about personal perception vs reality. You will never know what reality is until you measure it. I ran the demonstration to understand how much and in what form youtube mistreats my audio file, I think it is a test that any sound engineer who delivers his product on this media should do

It's quite easy to find. Did you try?

    E.g. from Mastering The Mix:
Mastering audio for Soundcloud, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music and Youtube.png

Or just turn up the volume...

Yes. Hence why I wrote what I wrote about Youtube having their own way to measure loudness, just like Spotify uses ReplayGain. I too have done that test. ;)
